Sailboats Lyrics
Sailboats wish that they were stars
Floating softly in the sky
Among our dreams that bid goodbye
Moving through transparent space
Drifting through the stratosphere
And onward 'till they disappear
These continents, from overhead
Look like tiny paper shapes
Intricately set in place
Below the misty mountain clouds
There's a lovely silver bay
Where sunset sailors often hide away
Scuba diver in the lock
Speedboat driver on the dock
Sailplane pilot in the blue, take me up there with you
The world looks brighter from this high altitude
I was walking through the trees
(Sailboats wish that they were stars)
And I was swimming through the seas
('Cause they don't know who they are)
I was falling through the air
When it hit me right there
My eyes are tired, but I don't even care
An airplane carried me to bed
Where I slept above the coast
And dreamt I had become a ghost
I sail above the frozen peaks
Deep in cold cathedral caves
Across the hills and far beyond the waves
Take the car on the run
Fly the jet to the sun
And bring the spacecraft in soon
While I play chess with the moon
I feel like sleeping through this cold afternoon
Once in 1964
(Sailboats wish that they were stars)
An actress ran on the shore
('Cause they don't know who they are)
And though you'll never return
I love you, Audrey Hepburn
Sometimes I can see your face in the crowd
There are sailboats throughout this brilliant sky
But you cannot pick them out if you can't fly
I'm glad the Earth doesn't care if I go up there
If you want to, just ask me and I'll take you along
Floating softly in the sky
Among our dreams that bid goodbye
Moving through transparent space
Drifting through the stratosphere
And onward 'till they disappear
Look like tiny paper shapes
Intricately set in place

I like this song, it's easy to listen, and beside that, the part that I curious to know is
Once in 1964 (Sailboats wish that they were stars) An actress ran on the shore ('Cause they don't know who they are) And though you'll never return I love you, Audrey Hepburn Sometimes I can see your face in the crow
after a little search in wikipedia, I know that Audrey Hepburn is an old time hollywood actress, and then i read about what 1964 means and I know, in 1964 Audrey act on a movie called "My Fair Lady"
the full synopsis can be read here http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058385/synopsis
ok, that's all, I just wanna give some info if u're curious too, just like me =)
this is the most beautiful song on the CD, in my opinion ♥ I love the reference to Audrey Hepburn (: in the version by seagull orchestra (which i like better than this version, probably just because i heard the other version first a long time ago and memorized all of those lyrics) says "steal your statue back and we'll fall in love" instead of "sometimes i can see your face in the crowd". "steal your statue back and we'll fall in love" is refering to one of Adam Young's favorite movies, How To Steal A Million, starring Audrey Hepburn. The movie involves Audrey's character trying to steal a forged statue back from the museum in which her father had sold it to; hence the phrase. It's a really great movie, i have it on VHS (: ♥
@nsnandowlcity04 Oh I love that movie too!

"sailboats wish that they were stars" when adam young sings thing i have a feeling he saying Normal people want to be celebrities. It also might have something to do with people being jealous of each other.
Such a beautiful song. It instantly calms me. I love the last two lines and its a perfect ending with the mixture of two voices.
This song gave Sky Sailing its name I think.
This is one of my favourite songs in the World, literally. Where do i start? Beautiful lyrics, dreamy music, enchanting beat and sound effects. Whoa <3 I just love everything about this song, it's perfect. And the main lyric, "Sailboats wish that they were stars", I just get these images in my head of glowing boats drifting through the sky. Oh, so beautiful.
This song was originally done under the alias Seagull Orchestra. And that version is actually a bit better in my opinion.
@Amasterd20 probably because that's a raw, unedited version. There's something about his voice that's so soothing.

There's something about Adam Young's voice. It's amazing that up until 2016 I had only heard Fireflies and Vanilla Twilight and on a European tour one of my mates played a song from Sky Sailing and I loved it so I shazamed it and from there I discovered a whole world fill of Owl City and Sky Sailng and only yesterday I discovered Windsor Airlift, Apes with guns, Seagull Orchestra, insect Airport, Port Blue and Swimming with Dolphins. I've become the biggest fan of Adam Young.
