i believe it's about anyone who has had a rough time, and is contemplating 'giving up' on life. but it tells them to harden the fuck up and keep on living ;)
This song is just amazing. I feel like this song tells me that no matter how hard life, and how scared you are of dying, to not let those thoughts get in the way of your life, enjoy life and have fun, live it to the fullest. This song is about how people may be going through hard times, but it is telling them to keep moving forward. When this song was written, by the screamer, Joel was going through really tough times (like when he writes most his songs). He didn't want to feel how he did, so he spent the time contemplating what a way to get through it would be.
I particularly like the lyrics, "Youngbloods, youngbloods, youngbloods run free forever Forget the death that's ever fucking nearer Light up the sky and scream fuck the reaper This life is for the keeping Youngbloods just keep on screaming," because it represents what most people would be going through, and the way to overcome that struggle.
