I think of the "captain" as God, or his interpretation of God. If you think in terms of Craig Minowa's tragic loss of his son, this can be one of the unexplainable stories of life. "activate your force fields and just keep going".....isn't this what we have to do when faced with unimaginable pain in our lives?
