This is such a beautiful, honest song. I love it. To me, and I might be way off here, this song is about someone on the edge of death, possibly the victim of a car crash (star shattered highway.) She's thinking about her lover and how she doesn't want to leave him. I wondered how this day would come Sure as the night falls Sure as the snow (death is a sure thing, she didn't expect it to happen like this)

Love be brave Burn all the maps and let the Ashes blow away (she's saying she wants him to move on)

Still waiting for forever to come (I'm right behind you) (she's waiting for him, then he says he's coming)
