Darling it's alright Lyrics
Darling darling darling
I was only sorry for a little while
For things that made me dream of coming back
Forgive me
My enemies return
They're coming back
But its alright
It's alright
If you wanna break down and cry it's alright
Wait
It's been a long time
Playing silly games long ago it seems
But it was days ago I think
Now I'm calling
Darling darling darling
I called your name
And I said forgive me all my enemies often wrong
They're come, they're coming back
That's why i said it's alright
It's alright
If you wanna break down and cry
If I wanna make darling cry
For the last time in my life
If you wanna break down
If you wanna break down
If you wanna (ad lib)
It's alright
If you wanna break down
It's alright
For things that made me dream of coming back
My enemies return
They're coming back
It's alright
It's been a long time
Playing silly games long ago it seems
But it was days ago I think
Darling darling darling
I called your name
And I said forgive me all my enemies often wrong
They're come, they're coming back
It's alright
If you wanna break down and cry
If I wanna make darling cry
For the last time in my life
If you wanna break down

The guy is breaking up with a girl from a long time relationship. He doesn't know how to say it or how to do it. He knows how he feels, but also doesn't. The most compassionate thing for him to do is to let her know his truth while consoling her and encouraging her to cry. He wants to leave but doesn't want the finality of a goodbye.
He reminds her often that this is him giving her love. He was waiting for the fairytale with her, but it hasn't come yet. And during this delay, he was able to identify the real story that is in front of him, a different one.
He ends by going into another fairytale, stories from the Bible. Everything is just a story. We don't know if he believes the bible stories to be real or fake. Or he could be in full surrender, in prayer, as the song ends.
