The end of the movie Lyrics
6am you left me for the last time,
on my doorstep
blinking in the sunshine.
Blamed and framed I'm frozen in the picture,
hanging in the space you left inside me.
I climbed upstairs into the final scene,
waiting for the credits to appear
for all the years that I've been
starring,
starring in a film with you and leading
leading with the star I knew. Waking up in along beam of light where the dust is dancing as the music fades.
On my way out for the very last time,
off my doorstep straight into the sunshine.
Walking west and following the coastline,
looking for a sea change.
Oh you led me here when the world began
and the breakers shook the moonlit sand.
Saw your pale face shining through the spray and I was blown away,
with the feeling I was starring
starring in a film with you
and leading,
leading with a star I knew
but I'm waking up in a beam of light
where the dust is dancing as the music fades
waking up
on my doorstep
blinking in the sunshine.
Blamed and framed I'm frozen in the picture,
hanging in the space you left inside me.
I climbed upstairs into the final scene,

This song perfectly sums up that feeling of intense, young and exciting love. You honestly do believe that your life with this person is a movie. When you're no with them you re-play all those beautiful moments again and again (the highlights like you see in a film)
Then it comes to an end and boom- nothing more to see, nothing more to feel. Empty and back in reality, back to routine.
This song makes me so sad but it's utterly fantastic.
I think you are indeed correct, but I think it can just as easily be looked at from the perspective of an older person whose wife or husband of many years has passed away who wakes and leaves the house, perhaps for the usual morning coffee somewhere they used to enjoy with their partner, and realizes they are alone for the first time in a long time. This is why strong families are so important. To help pick up the pieces after a major loss.
Ahhh, this song gets me every time. It is simply the most beautiful song describing the emptiness left with you when someone you love walks out of your life.
You can't help but replay those memories like a movie - through the haze you seem only to remember the good memories.
I love the guitar and violin combination, it's utterly haunting. The lyrics are pretty self-explanatory in my opinion, it's simplicity is what I think works so well.
I sent this song to my ex 6 months after we split.... it helped me to let go for good, and this song just about summed it all up
