Round and Round Lyrics
It's always the same, as always
Said and tongue tied
It's got a memory and refrain.
I'm afraid, you're afraid.
And we die and we live and we're born again
Turn me inside out
What can I say...
Merry go 'round
We go up and around we go
Breakdown, break it down
You play air guitar for a band
And I, I will break eardrums in the back
And I'll back you up, as your frontman
"Hello? Oh, hi."
Now that sounds right frontman write the
Songs that say
"I like that!"
Hold on, I'm calling, calling back to the ball
And we'll dazzle them all, hold on
Pick up the phone. And I want to go, and I want to go home now.
Merry go 'round
We go up and around we go now.
Lady lady come on in, set me free.
Lady lady come on in
Sentimental heart break, everything is my fault.
Hold on, I'm calling, calling me back to the ball. And we'll dazzle them all, hold on.
Said and tongue tied
It's got a memory and refrain.
And we die and we live and we're born again
Turn me inside out
What can I say...
We go up and around we go
And I, I will break eardrums in the back
And I'll back you up, as your frontman
Songs that say
"I like that!"
And we'll dazzle them all, hold on
We go up and around we go now.
Lady lady come on in

Awesome
I get the sense that it's not intended to be at all serious, and the lyrics are more crafted to sound like the kind of period he's emulating. They all sound kind of deliciously trite.
Maybe I'm wrong. Awesome song, anyway.
Jesus, this song... This whole album, really, they define "instant classic." I can't believe I just got around to listening to this. Holy hell.
From the lines in the beginning it sounds like he has some difficulty expressing himself in conversation (tongue tied, always the same) and later in the song he’s describing playing in a band; a situation in which he feels much more at ease and able to communicate with people (we’ll dazzle them all). There are a few lines that seem like filler and aren’t really understandable to me (pick up the phone?) but it’s typical of Ariel to do that.
Calling the ball is taken from the movie "Top Gun." In the opening scenes of 'Top Gun', the controller on the carrier says "Maverick...Call the ball" to which the reply is "Maverick has the ball".
Ball (the) - The glowing image projected by the FRESNEL LENS. Gives glideslope reference. Short for ‘meatball,’ the term for the red ball of light seen in the old mirror landing system which predated the fresnel lens system.
"Call the Ball" - A radio transmission from a pilot that he has sighted the BALL during approach to the carrier. Typically consists of SIDE NUMBER, aircraft type (to ensure proper ARRESTING GEAR settings), and amount of fuel onboard in thousands of pound s, e.g. '205 Tomcat ball, 3.5'.
Haha I love that you posted this. If you think this is what he's singing about, you're even more cracked than Ariel. :D
