This song sounds like its about a guy and he's here to tell his girlfriend he's been cheating and he's leaving her. I believe the girl as well has been cheating so there's a lot of resentful between them. A very toxic relationship. They're both liars like he said and he wants out
This is my favorite song off the album besides "you"
Ok first of all, let me say that this song has a sexiness to it that I love. Like the actual music is just... well sexy... Haha
But to me this song is about a guy breaking up with his gf. But I think that she was the rebound because he says "I was thinking about telling you that I was in love with her. I'm still in love with her." And in the second verse he says "I was never really your's in the first place."
The relationship they have is volatile and sexual: "The chemistry between liars like you and me ignites like gasoline". Maybe they were both rebounds for the other. They both have someone else they would rather be with.
Love this song. One of my faves on the album.
IMO, this is about relationship based on sex and not love.
Don't you think that there's missing lyrics ? at the very end I'm not sure what it is but I'm sure there's a line: "and oh it will be a hard time in the old town tonight.. tonight x2"
If you listen to this song in conjunction with "You" you'll see an almost perfect correlation between meanings

Between these 2 songs I see the story of a guy who may have either cheated on a girl with someone else, or might have dumped one girl in favor of another (Photographs and Gasoline) and then realizes he's made a mistake and is trying to remedy his ways and get back with the one he truly loves (You)
