Dead Leg Lyrics
You have grown up.
Smoke-stack shadows in your eyes.
And with annual courtroom ties,
Cigarette burns in your clothes,
Sugar spoons and frozen toes.
And as for love;
Oh God, you farce.
Taught and brought up on your verse.
Breaking rank deserves a curse.
Go home now son.
I've forbidden what you love.
Break your own glass with your glove.
So you make blue the air.
And with hands, in pockets, clenched;
Swear to brutalise his wench,
Burn some holes into his floor,
Maybe petrol bomb his door.
Maybe not.
Maybe not.
'Cause that's youth today;
They will fall on anyone in the name of having fun
Or is it pressure from you peers?
As the cries fall on deaf ears.
What have I done?
What have I done?
Smoke-stack shadows in your eyes.
And with annual courtroom ties,
Cigarette burns in your clothes,
Sugar spoons and frozen toes.
And as for love;
Taught and brought up on your verse.
Breaking rank deserves a curse.
I've forbidden what you love.
Break your own glass with your glove.
And with hands, in pockets, clenched;
Swear to brutalise his wench,
Burn some holes into his floor,
Maybe petrol bomb his door.
Maybe not.
Maybe not.
They will fall on anyone in the name of having fun
Or is it pressure from you peers?
As the cries fall on deaf ears.
What have I done?
What have I done?

This is a song about Youths and there actions and the title refers to when young people punch someone very hard on a part of someones body to leave that area numb due to the pain for a couple of seconds often reffered to as a 'Deadie' in Scotland. The end is the youth realising the consequnces of their own actions.
I know I have put 2 comments on this song but it just screams so much stuff to me and I forgot to include it the last time I did it. I think the songs about all the shit you get yourself into when your young:
Smoke-stack shadows in your eyes. - Makeup (Growing Older) Cigarette burns in your clothes, - Smoking (Rebelling)
Some of my thoughts on that part ^
Burn some holes into his floor, Maybe petrol bomb his door. Maybe not. Maybe not.
That part of the song just shows well its obviously taking it too far cause doing that is just kicking the arse right out it doing that to somebody but if you watch the news youths are getting caught up in things like this all the time. ('Cause that's youth today)
Horrible acts of violence that's what it mostly is.
Or is it pressure from you peers? Maybe friends made him petrol bomb the guy As the cries fall on deaf ears. Victims from it no one can hear them scream What have I done? The guy that done it realizes what he has done What have I done? ^
