Heaven's On Fire Lyrics

"People see rock and roll as, as youth culture, and when youth culture becomes monopolized by big business, what are the youth to do? Do you, do you have any idea? I think we should destroy the bogus capitalist process that is destroying youth culture."

When I look at you, heaven's on fire
I wish I didn't know you better, but it's pointless
One look at you, and heaven's on fire

When I look at you, I reach for a piano wire
Fighting to keep it together, but it's pointless
One look at you and heaven's on fire
Heaven's on fire

It seems like everyone is on your side
We're outnumbered by those who take no pride
In constantly moving against the tide
Charlatans just out of reach and out of time

I'm a little like you, ugly on the inside
But while I dive into the gritty, you just stand by
When I look at you, heaven's on fire
Heaven's on fire

It seems like everyone is on your side
We're outnumbered by those who take no pride
In constantly moving against the tide
Charlatans just out of reach and out of time

The lyrics above are either meant as a joke, or the poster has a terrible ear. Here are the correct lyrics from the band's site:

Thurston Moore (sample) "People see rock and roll as, as youth culture, and when youth culture becomes monopolised by big business, what are the youth to do? Do you, do you have any idea? I think we should destroy the bogus capitalist process that is destroying youth culture."

"When I look at you, heaven's on fire I wish I didn't know you better, but it's pointless One look at you, and heaven's on fire

It seems like everyone is on your side We're outnumbered by those who take no pride In constantly moving against the tide Charlatans just out of reach and out of time

Puts quite a different spin on it, eh? Heaven's on fire not because he's hot for the other person, but because makes him so upset he reaches for piano wire.

The lyrics posted are from a Kiss song of the same name haha

The songs about the hypocratic and unjust mass marketing music industry. Im not sure if the radio dept. are signed but deffers not with a big label.

He's just singing about what the initial sample is talking about. but they put an ironic spin on it cos the song is more pop than the rest of their music. So they're kindof criticising the popular music inustry who are afraid to step out of the norm and give support to bands like themselves.

Its sounds sort of romantic aswell but i dont think there's any kindof romantic narrative happening

I agree, it's about the mainstream music industry.

"When I look at you, heaven's on fire" When he says "you" he's referring to people who just make music to make money, not for the love of music. Or maybe he's just referring to the people who support all the garbage that the industry feeds to them. "heaven's on fire" is a powerful metaphor for destroying something good.

I really like the line, "We're outnumbered by those who take no pride in constantly moving against the tide" It seems like there are far fewer people out there who take the time to discover music written by real artists who care about what the write, and way too many people who just run with the herd and listen to the crap that plays on most radio stations.

I think this is all turning around with the rise of the internet though. No one has to pay money to discover music any longer. It's all free and available to everyone. I really hope this turns music back into what it was meant to be, an art form, not a business.

I do too, it makes so much sense i could see him having hopes and dreams and thinking about the music industry just agrivates the singer\

"When I look at you, I reach for a piano wire Fight to keep it together, but it's pointless"

Maybe one look at the industry and he reaches to the piano wire to make a song but it's pointless because they run the system.. not even worth it

Sounds like disliking somebody because they're a lot like you, and in turn, hating yourself for being so similar to them.
