Sellout Lyrics
who the hell have i been kidding
i sold my soul to the corporation
they know me better than i know myself
i better shut it up
i better shut it up
you got a problem with the way i think
i got a problem with the way you think
that you can program me
like a damn machine
i gunna take a stand
and say fuck this scene
i'm sick of imagery
instead of artistry
i'm sick of apathy
instead of harmony
i'm sick of poets working part time jobs
while pissy people pick and choose the stars
i know that i should be
the last one to speak about this
but even sellouts have their dreams
set the music free
(da da da...)
oh what the hell was i trying to prove
i ran away so young
now on the move
like a vandal i wear my mask
and all you punks back home
you can kiss my ass
i got a feeling deep down inside my soul
thats taken 3 years to gain control
and i ain't never no never, no never, no never
no never, no never, coming home
(da da da...)

i think the end of the 2nd verse is like this
"i gunna take a stand and say fuck this scene"
When he says "while pissy people pick and choose the stars." i immediatly think of the jonas brothers and justin beiber....cuz i hate both of them
This is a great song and pretty straight forward. Christofer has gotten caught up in all the fame and has let people change him. The way he says "Like a vandal, i wear my mask" he's admitting to not being himself and it was wrong. All in all, he just wants a change and for it to go back to him being himself before all the fame.
This song makes me feel like an unassuming "brown noser" trying to mind my own business but somehow managed to buy into the smoke and mirrors game; O' such classical fraudulent highs and lows theses days bestow upon me! And I believe I've nailed it and that is my $0.02.
I believe the song is pretty much all about his producers making him something he's not but he disapproves it, therefore making him a sellout.
I'm gonna break it down:
Who the hell have I been kidding I sold my soul to the corporation They know me better than I know myself I better shut it up I better shut it up
I think this means that he let people change him into something he's not.
You gotta problem with the way I think I gotta problem with the way you think That you can program me Like a damn machine
I think he's saying that they have a problem with the way that he is and thinks. Therefore, they program him like a machine so he will be liked for something he's not.
I'm gonna take a stand And say fuck this scene
I think he's saying that he won't let them change him anymore.
I'm sick of imagery Instead of artistry
I think he's saying that he's sick of people being judged how good of an artist they are by looks instead of talent.
I'm sick of apathy Instead of harmony
I think he's saying that he's sick of people not caring about one another and wishing they would all work together.
I'm sick of poets workin' part time jobs While pissy people pick and choose the stars
I can't exactly tell what he's means by "pissy people", but by the song, I think he means people who have no talent yet considered stars by looks or personality get lots of money while taleted, genuine poets, artists, or singers still have to work to get by.
I know that I should be The last one to speak About this but even sellouts have their dreams
I think he's saying he has no right to speak of this because he let people change him, but he still wishes he didn't.
Set the music free
I can't tell what he's trying to say, but I'm guessing it's that he wants genuine singers and song writers
(Da da da...)
It's just catchy. c:
Oh what the hell was I tryin' to prove I ran away so young Now I'm on the move
I think he's trying to say he regrets moving away from home so young.
Like a vandal I wear my mask
I think he's trying to say that he's wearing a mask because people changed him, so he's practically hiding the true him.
And all you punks back home Yah you can kiss my ass
I think he's trying to say that he knows what he did was wrong, but people shouldn't try to put him down for it.
Cause' I gotta feelin' deep down inside my soul That's taken three whole years to gain control
I can't tell what he means, but I think he's saying that he regrets letting them change him for the past couple years.
And I aint never no never no never no never no never no never Coming home
I think he's saying that he can't face his folks back home because they may be diappointed in him.
(Da da da...)
Again, just a catchy toon. c:
@Chloyybear I think what he means by "pissy people" is the industry, they're just pissy people trying to make money and not putting up with people being their true selves.

And when he says "And I ain't never, no never, no never, no never, no never, Comin' home", I think he means that he's not giving up. He regrets leaving home, but he knows he can't go back, he has to accept that he is what he is now, and do his best to fix it. He's not going to try to be what he once was because...

Is it weird that I think the song sounds better censored? It's not because I don't like the swearing, I don't mind it at all actually, it's just that the only version I found (on Spotify), I would listen to all the time, and the curse words were censored, so it sounds weird now. XD Great song, I love the message. :)
