A sycophant is a self-seeking,servile flatterer; fawning parasite.
The "plumber" refers to the right wing's metaphor for middle-class Americans. And the "small-minded rifle-packing hag" is a reference to vice presidential hopeful Sarah Palin.
Also it describes the band's view of politicians that try to act Christian and hide behind the bible when acting the way they do as well as all the mindless sheep in the public that fall in line blindly and have no awareness of what is really going on.
Well described, Sonic Raider, I couldn't say it better. I'd also say it's generally about the hypocrisy of most of the Christian churches in the US and their influence on the population, how all of their followers swallow the bait and don't question or criticize anything about their agenda.

Generally there isnt hypocrisy in many different christian churches inside the USA (excluding catholocism.) To me it's about how the churches don't like the black people. So the ''Christian soldiers'' hated when USA elected black president
