Moves Lyrics
I believe
You've had something that's mine
All this time
Slow to singalong crawl
Fork it over
I live among
The alarms, where I trip
Where they sing
Slow to singalong crawl
They come over
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Up the hill
Goes the time, rides the beat
Of my step
Slow to singalong crawl
Undiscovered
And all the years
At quarter speed, haloed and
Trembling clean
Slow to singalong crawl
Turning over
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Slow down, ladies
Slow down now
These things get louder
These things get louder
The live alarms
And your true villain love
Are kept at bay
Slow to singalong crawl
Like you wrote it
Will the beams
Be broke and crossed, motion sense
It's our heat
Slow to singalong crawl
It's not over
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Slow down, ladies
Slow down now
These things get louder
These things get louder
Slow to singalong crawl
Slow to singalong crawl
You will find moves
You've had something that's mine
All this time
Slow to singalong crawl
Fork it over
The alarms, where I trip
Where they sing
Slow to singalong crawl
They come over
Goes the time, rides the beat
Of my step
Slow to singalong crawl
Undiscovered
At quarter speed, haloed and
Trembling clean
Slow to singalong crawl
Turning over
Slow down now
These things get louder
And your true villain love
Are kept at bay
Slow to singalong crawl
Like you wrote it
Be broke and crossed, motion sense
It's our heat
Slow to singalong crawl
It's not over
Slow down now
These things get louder
Slow to singalong crawl

I'm pretty sure the last line is "You with all your moves".
I hear the lyrics as:
I believe You have something that's mine All this time Slow to sing along crawl Fork it over
I live among The alarms, where I trip Where they sing Slow to sing along crawl They come over
Up the hill Goes in time, rides the beat Of my step Slow to sing along crawl Undiscovered
And all the years At quarter speed, haloed and Trembling clean Slow to sing along crawl Turning over
Slow down, ladies Slow down, ladies
These things get louder These things get louder
The lava alarms And your true villain love Are kept at bay Slow to sing along crawl Like you wrote this
Will the beams Be broke and crossed, motion sense It's our heat Slow to sing along crawl It's not over
Slow down, ladies Slow down, ladies
These things get louder These things get louder
Slow to sing along crawl Slow to sing along crawl
You will find moves
At first I thought this was about a thief stealing something that he thought should be his. Then I listened to the last line very carefully, and heard "You have my moves." The whole meaning of the song then changed.
Now I think it probably means that somebody took the singer's significant other, and he wants to take her back.
easily one of my favorites off the new album. it's catchy, and i just can't help but to sing along.
I really don't think those are the lyrics. I'm getting this... and I don't know if the word is "come" either. This is the best I got. Might be "call" or "crawl". I think come makes the most sense lyrically though.
I believe You’ve had some- Thing that’s mine all this time Slowed to a sing along, “Come!” Fork it over.
I live among the alarms Where I trip Where they sing Slowed to a sing along, “Come!” Hey come over.
Up the hill Goes the time Righteous beat of my step Slowed to a sing along, “Come!” Undiscovered.
And all the years At quarter speed Haloed at trembling cleat Slowed to a sing along, “come.” Turning over.
Slow down ME Slow down
These things get louder These things get louder
The live alarms And your true Villain loved Are kept at bay Slowed to a sing along, “Come!” Like you wrote this.
Will the beams Be broken cross Motion sense It’s our heat Slowed to a sing along, “Come!” It’s not over.
Slow Down Me Slow Down
These things get louder These things get louder
Slowed to a sing along, “Come!” Slowed to a sing along, “Come!”
You with my moves
ok after listening more I have corrections.
Slow down (please?) Slow down
it's broken up because these are what the alarms are saying. They are mimicing the sound of alarms.
Then it says these things get louder, as by saying the alarms are getting louder.
I think it is saying, slowed to a sing along call.
That is why it is the repetative rhythmic portion. This is so you can feel the sing alongness.
This is also why the oh, oh, oh, oh part is in there.
Obviously it is all mediphoric, but I would think the "oh, oh, oh, oh" part is the actual alarms (even though they don't exist) and the "Slow down Please" is what he is interpreting.
Like the song says "slowed to a sing along" this is why that line is scattered everywhere, to make them sing along. They can be removed without loosing context. What is left should be the meaning.
Also at the end, it probably does say, "you will find moves" The alarms are what find moves so I suppose this is the big part of the song where you realize that you, the listener, and all people are the alarms. He feels that we are all telling him, or society is telling him to slow down. Hense, "I live among the alarms"
I believe You’ve had some- Thing that’s mine all this time Fork it over.
I live among the alarms Where I trip Where they sing Hey come over.
Up the hill Goes the time Righteous beat of my step Undiscovered.
And all the years At quarter speed Haloed at trembling cleat Turning over.
The live alarms And your true Villain loved Are kept at bay Like you wrote this.
Will the beams Be broken cross Motion sense It’s our heat It’s not over.
You will find moves.
So here is the break down. The song is about his music carrer and life. We are the alarms. He wants us to trip and bring people to him to better his music carrer, (maybe.) He wants to get his music out. That sort of thing.
where they trip. where they sing "hey come over" This is you. ritcheous beat of my step, undiscovered. this is him not being discovered as a musician or more
But the alarms are saying "Slow Down Please." I think this is a generalization of our society. Even getting a building permit is the slowest thing in the world. He is pushing ahead and the faster he goes the slower he is told to go. He feels like he is moving at quarter speed, and although he is loved for his music and we would love to hear more, He is the villain and is kept at bay.
The last part is saying that even if he trips the "alarms" he wont give up.
I imagine he is having trouble with the bureacracy of his music carrer. Maybe he is having trouble supporting his music carrer because of free downloaded music and that is the "hey come on over" part. People telling others but he isn't getting anything for it. "like you wrote this" and the download websites are he true villans alternately the music industry.
Also could just be society in a more general term, or trying to do all the day to day of getting copywrites, copywriting images for cd labels. Getting art for the labels. etc.
hopefully this is enough to get everyone thinking.
