He's finally admitting that he has to let go. Maybe over the "denial". He feels like he's dead without this person - maybe depressed, and all that he can think of is this failed relationship.

Beautiful song by a beautiful man. It makes me cry everytime I hear it - his voice is so powerful and amazing. I can't help but be reduced to tears by his ballad-type songs - escpecially a song like this that hits home so well for all of us.
