Hollow Men Lyrics
I remember, just last spring.
Here inside my memory I sing.
All around me, hollow men.
Trembling at the thought of falling in.
Oh my lord.
Oh my lord.
Take me over and under her sun
cause I won't be coming back.
To fading stars of death kingdom.
No I won't be coming back.
Oh my lord.
Running circles with you love.
It's hard for me to think of you alone.
Here in this dead land full of death.
My heart is beating fast with tenderness.
Oh my love.
Oh my love.
Take me over and under her sun
cause I won't be coming back.
To fading stars of death kingdom.
No I won't be coming back.
Oh my love.
Freedom save me, save her love.
Freedom save me, save her love.
Take me over and under her sun
cause I won't be coming back.
Here inside my memory I sing.
All around me, hollow men.
Trembling at the thought of falling in.
Oh my lord.
cause I won't be coming back.
To fading stars of death kingdom.
No I won't be coming back.
Oh my lord.
It's hard for me to think of you alone.
Here in this dead land full of death.
My heart is beating fast with tenderness.
Oh my love.
cause I won't be coming back.
To fading stars of death kingdom.
No I won't be coming back.
Oh my love.
Freedom save me, save her love.
cause I won't be coming back.

this song is hauntingly beautiful, i think it's about being in love, and seeing people around you afraid to take that jump into love while you yourself are already completely in love with another person. under her sun means he's pretty much infatuated with her, completely under her spell. but there's always something dark around the relationship, as the song mentions death a couple times. i dunno, that's my interpretation.
I personally think this song is about him being afraid to end a relationship with someone who he dearly loves and doesn't want to be hurt. And maybe that he feels he is the only one that understands her and will also feel her pain - connoting that he is the opposite to the 'hollow men' he sings about. People who are afraid to love or people who take advantage of love.

I remember reading somewhere that the song was actually his response to the poem " The Hollow Men" by T. S. Eliot after being assigned to read the poem and write about it for a class. The poem itself is associated with post WWI Europe and religion/spirituality.
