Within half an hour you'll
Be gone and I won’t see you anymore
You left my love on the line
And said that you were leaving
And you won’t come home again (x2)

And I’ll miss you like you’re dead
But I never got to grieve you
Cause I saw you
In the arms of someone new

So your phantom follows me
Like a child would his mother
Or a lover who never said goodbye
So this is goodbye

And I cry myself to sleep
And you thought I was happy
I was lonely
And had nowhere to go

And I heard that you moved on
Found a brand new family
And changed your married name
And everything has changed

And I’ll miss you like you’re dead
And find a way to grieve you
Cause I need to
Try and start again

And your ghost will have to leave
Like a child would his mother
Or a lover
Who has to say goodbye
And so this is goodbye
So this is goodbye
So this is goodbye
Goodbye
So this is goodbye
So this is goodbye
So this is goodbye
So this is good..(distortion)

This song is so sad. To me, the meaning is pretty simple: he's trying to find a way to move on from a terrible, but inevitable break up/divorce and make a new life for himself. He's finding it extremely difficult because he didn't really get a chance to say goodbye, or get closure.

It should be "So this is goodbye" rather than "It's always say goodbye"

the first line is: "Within half an hour you'll be gone and I won't see you anymore."

the next line is: "You left my love on the line..."

I think its about how his lover just left him really unexpectedly. He clearly is also still in love with this person, never got any closure, or any reasons/explanations. "so, this is goodbye". Since he never got any answers, what else can he do? Its goodbye, its the end. But the persons ghost still haunts him, but he forces himself to get over them. For the good of himself. Cause hanging on the that one person, especially after they are really truly gone, is only hurting yourself.

Its a sad thing that he's going through, and I definitely don't wish is upon no one! Very great song!

I think Fitzsimmons deliberately blurs the line between the love shared among lovers and the love shared among parents and their children. This sounds strange, but I think it's effective in conveying the level of abandonment he feels and emotional vulnerability he is/was open to. The song might also speak to a pattern of abandonment and trust issues, which can be highlighted by the line: "it's always say goodbye". I think the song can be purposely read from either perspective for those reasons.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Cajun Girl

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
