For Annabelle Lyrics

If I want to walk home with you
Hearing every word, thinking it's true
In a barren field for us to cut through
On our victory lap 'cross an old street cat

That turns to stop and see you
A small stone somewhere in your shoe
All day long
All day long
Long

The old folks wake up for the day
Seeing the monsters have lingered from the past
And a great bird is flying away
From our family tree; something wrong with me

I've got a secret or two
Hiding somewhere but
It won't take long
No it won't take long
Long

Vocalist Ben Bridwell told The Skinny: "This is a homage to my daughter, as at the time of writing my wife was pregnant with our first child and I guess impending fatherhood was probably the main influence or inspiration for the song. Also, Tyler (Ramsay, guitarist) wrote the intro in five seconds."

There' a very cool Youtube video (watch?v=VylCETC8hKY) with Annabelle, I'm assuming this song is about her.

The first verse seems to be set in the present, he can walk through a barren field with her, believe every word she says since kids talk so much. Basic chorus, same idea

The second verse is when she's older and moving out, Ben's one of the "old folks" and Annabelle is the great bird. Not really sure about the secret part. Good song though.

nice interpretation. also, the video of Ben singing to his daughter is endearing, and definitely sheds light on what this song is about.

for those who haven't seen the official video, it's very beautiful and still: http://odetoboh.net/2010/06/03/for-annabelle-video/
