Codex Lyrics
Imprisoned in all of us, a journey
A true test of being, a struggle in all us to be human
We all possess the most raw and natural power deep inside
Standing there in the moment
In the position to live now
Temptation wont control me
In the position to live now
We all know there is something more to our lives
When the inner core beckons
Savage and clean the body still receiving, a message
The code the greatness
A known true cure to us all
A true test of being, a struggle in all us to be human
We all possess the most raw and natural power deep inside
Standing there in the moment
In the position to live now
Temptation wont control me
In the position to live now
We all know there is something more to our lives
When the inner core beckons
Savage and clean the body still receiving, a message
The code the greatness
A known true cure to us all

The first ever Codex, was the Bible. Its essentially about living your life, appreciating each day "In the position to live now" and finding god, and god isnt the same for everyone. its finding your god.
I Agree With xturnandforfeitx.
Also, To me this song expresses that only humans have that "Raw" and "Natural" ability to connect with God on a Deep level.
And also the lines "We all know there is something more to our lives When the inner core beckon" to me refers to the "meaning of life",
In that when we view our lives we feel there is more to it than what we know when we begin to question our purpose as Humans.
But the only thing I'd add to what xturnandforfeitx said about the line "in the position to live now" Would be that we all have the ability to "Live" our lives for Chrsit, today.
..But thats just what I think(;
well said. i was just trying to avoid conflict between religions.

Yeah.
Yeah.
you can make anything be about god if you try hard enough

The one Codex inside every human is their DNA; It's THE code to who they are as a human. The "choices" are all the choices of our psychological forces that invest meaning into things.

Makes me think of Ram Dass's idea of "Be Here Now". It's about finding yourself and finding God. After listening to this whole album, I think Brandon is almost trying to find the connections between science, religion, and spirituality.
the big breakdown in this song is so fucking crushing.
I think you people are dumb for saying it has anything to do with god. I think it's the opposite. I think it's about understanding what we are and who we are. We are animals programmed by instinct. Our codex is our DNA not the bible. It's about evolving ourselves to have a purpose and to have a meaningful life other than blindly following some crap religion or just living a pointless existence. The previous song on this album, conquer, is about conquering that challenge to find our purpose. This song capitalizes on that by saying that we have the power to forge our own paths, to overcome the temptations of our instincts and to live our lives to our maximum potential. All we have to do to achieve that is realize there is something more to our lives than just living. If god is the only thing you can motivate yourself to live for than so be it. I live for making something out of nothing.
