Namaste Lyrics

We will stand, make this place our own
One day we will leave it behind
We will stand, make this place our own
And one day leave it all behind
There is a place
An isle of non-existance created by our own drive to live
Somewhere other than reality
We must sacrifice to survive, other try to take and deprive
Live together, die alone
Created by our own drive to live
Fight on until its know, our purpose, our being here
Must be a sign to the path, to the path that we must take
From the sky a black smoke engulfs our minds, our souls
We fight on until it is know, our purpose
This is the path
The path that we must take
We will stand make this place our own
One day we will leave it behind
We will stand make this place our own
And one day leave it all behind

one of the stronger songs on the album. that main riff is dope as hell, another signature from marc.

as far as the meaning goes, i can't help but think of the tv show LOST. a couple of references such as "black smoke, an isle of non-existance, we fight on until it's known, our purpose, etc."

i could be wrong.

the meaning of namaste has to do with bowing to a person at the "god within". other than that, not sure

its about life, and finding our purpose before we leave this place.

"There is a place An isle of non-existance created by our own drive to live Somewhere other than reality"

there is no such thing as non existance, there is only what is. we can only think what is. take for instance a dragon, there are no such things as dragons..yet they exist because we can think of a dragon. by thinking it we can create it, in our mind, in a drawing, or a movie. so therefore it exists. hes trying to prove this theory wrong...

Well aside from them explicitly saying its about lost it really is not about finding purpose in life.

The entire album is about the [id](this song is no exception) the [id] is the isle of none existence in a place other than reality created only by our minds drive to survive

read up on your freudian theories kids...

ok many times i come across people who think there is life after death just because they are afraid of idea there is nothing after we die maybe this song is about that "We will stand, make this place our own One day we will leave it behind"

we live here and leave it behind

An isle of non-existance created by our own drive to live Somewhere other than realiy here he says we create or imagine something which is not real cos we are afraid of truth what we should do is live life to find our purpose fight for it rather than hoping abt something which is non existent sorry for typos :) was my first comment here hope this helps :)

My Interpretation

i hate to break up the philosophy party, but im pretty sure this song is just about the show "Lost" or at least that is what marc okubo always says... i could be wrong maybe he was just talking about the breakdown pattern which was derived from a sequence of numbers from the show, but im pretty damn sure that he said the whole song was based off of lost. and i guess the lyrics kinda go with it.. ?

you're right. the riffs are based on the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42... which are numbers from lost. and that is info from the band. so "faaipdeoiad7" is the fucking moron here.

as admitted by the band it was inspired by the tv show but it isnt about the show itself but about surviving. . making the best of everything or situation and no matter where you are there will always be some sort of black smoke to deal with along the way but the smoke is only there to remind you of what you have to lose.

My Interpretation

We are in control of our own lives.

also. he suggests we all have a place we want to be than where we are . . in our life. make the best of it. fight for it. make good decisions.

Great song with great lyrics. It is a perfect scenario where a song is literally created after nothing more than a show (time signature and lyrics) but yet there are those who feel the need to apply their knowledge and claim they are correct. I usually am not one to call people out on stupidity such as this but I am pretty sure FaaipDeOiad7 has never seen the show Lost which is why he/ she does not know that Namaste is a direct reference of what all the Darhma Initiative people said to each other. Also each line such as we will stand, make this place our own is talking about the passenger finding themselves on an island with no signs of rescue, An isle of non-existence is also referring to the fact of the island is almost impossible to find unless it wants you to find it. Sacrifice to survive, others try to take and deprive is talking about the "others" that live on the island. They are the people that have lived there for many years and try to protect the island. Always seen as the people causing harm and trouble they are actually the ones keeping the "bad guys" out. The best line that gives away the fact that this song is about the show is the Live together, Die alone. This quote is said hundreds of times through out the show, it is the moto all of the survivors live by. Fight on until it is known I believe is talking about the countless efforts they make to try and alert the rest of the world of their crash as well as their attempts to leave the island. Must be a sign, must be a path is Lockes whole reasoning behind the island. Believing that everything happens for a reason and everything from deaths to finding another hatch is his and everyones destiny. The black smoke is pretty self explanatory if you have seen the show. Now I am sure there are hundreds of places any of these lines could have came from but when you actually add them up I would have to say it is more than just a coincidence. The time signature and almost every line is a quote or scene from the show. And if that analysis didn't cut it for you than just go to a Veil of Maya show and ask they guys themselves, they are going to tell you exactly what I just said.

So I enjoy the Hindu theory but I am sorry to say this is not some deeper meaning song. It was written about an amazing show by some amazing musicians.

Dude, that was a brilliant explination. And there can be no more debate, because that's completely correct, and they even say those things themselves.

No, you fucking moron, this song is not about Lost. Gtfo. Namaste is hindu gesture where the hands are brought together in a prayer-like style to the chakra at the third eye and to the chakra at the heart. It's an an acknowledgment of the soul in one by the soul in another. The word "namaste" almost literally means "I bow to you". It's like saying "The Divinity within me perceives and adores the Divinity within you." This is obviously a very spiritual song.

Song Meaning

You're an idiot. My friends and I met them at a show and it is about Lost. Marc also told us that he remembers pretty much all of their random breakdowns as a sequence of numbers.

Song Meaning

@FaaipDeOiad7
hah i'm the moron? i know that its a hindu gesture, i know what it looks like, and i know what it means. so fuck off

@Breeeoreeeoreee
