Resistance Lyrics
From the beginning a novel sworn in romance
A display of two statues revealed
We cast it all hoping for a bite of desire
Swept underneath our emotions burden inside
We find ourselves searching, hoping
For a muse in the night to bring relief
An endless search for some a masked silhouette
Dancing in shadows our greatest fears
Resistance to desire
Swept underneath our emotions burden inside
We find ourselves searching, hoping
For a muse in the night to bring relief
Colliding within we torch ourselves
A full flowing chalice of apathy
We know that this is the end our past a kindled undying flar
We cast it all hoping for a bite of desire
Swept underneath our emotions we find ourselves
A display of two statues revealed
We cast it all hoping for a bite of desire
Swept underneath our emotions burden inside
We find ourselves searching, hoping
For a muse in the night to bring relief
An endless search for some a masked silhouette
Dancing in shadows our greatest fears
Resistance to desire
Swept underneath our emotions burden inside
We find ourselves searching, hoping
For a muse in the night to bring relief
Colliding within we torch ourselves
A full flowing chalice of apathy
We know that this is the end our past a kindled undying flar
We cast it all hoping for a bite of desire
Swept underneath our emotions we find ourselves

This song needs to be commented on; it demands attention, lyrically and musically speaking, all aspects of the song are great. There are so many good parts of the song; it progresses beautifully. Love the Raystorm synth breakdown at 1:34. Something about Brandon's vocal delivery reminds me a lot of Trevor from The Black Dahlia Murder, not so much in the tone of voice, rather his emphasis on lyrics and low to high contrast (not a bad guy to emulate). This is just another great part of an entirely awesome album.
To me, this song is about not hiding who you truly are. The majority of us hide our emotions and try to sugar-coat everything "searching for a bite of desire". We use drugs, sex, T.V., money, possessions etc. to try to fill these voids when we don't feel happy.
I think this song is mainly about the sex drive that we as humans experience. This can be seen from the first few line: "From the beginning a novel sworn in romance"(Our adult human existence is based around sex). "A display of two statues revealed"(two humans). "We cast it all hoping for a bite of desire"(We commit our lives to satisfy our sex drive). The next few lines: We hope to find someone ("masked silhouette) in order to gain a sense of meaning and relieve the stress of everyday life. When one breaks off a relationship one becomes distraught. But once we cast aside our primal urge of sex drive and the emotions related to it, we find out who we truly are.
