Dark Passenger Lyrics
I am in control
Judgement time has come
This world is mine, i'll mold it with my hands
Two trails lay before me, i know one as familiar as my senses
The other one preaches pain upon my mind, my eyesight extends
In my sights i have nothing, but guilt and deceit
They lay before me begging and willing for eternal mercy on their lives
Now's my time, this life is mine to make, complete
This choice is mine to take, receive

Two trails lay before me, i know one as familiar as my senses
The other one preaches pain upon my mind, my eyesight extends
In my sights i have nothing, but guilt and deceit
They lay before me begging and willing for eternal mercy on their lives
Now's my time, this life is mine to make, complete
This choice is mine to take, receive

pretty sure the title of the song is taken from the show dexter. he refers to his split personality as his 'dark passenger', or having an 'alter ego' that no one else gets to see except for his victims at their last moment. if you've actually seen most of the episodes and know what the show's about, all of the lyrics to this song almost seem to fit in the form of the mind of dexter morgan as he struggles with his decisions and how they affect his human emotions he begins to develop. then again, i could be completely wrong and [id] could be a concept album.
Its a concept album loosely based on Freud's theories of id, ego and superego, where the id is a being of our subconscious (dark passenger if you will) seeking only satisfaction at a superficial level (sex, pain, pleasure etc.) while our ego and superego combat these urges through reasoning and self-sacrifice for a "greater good". As you progress through the album the perspective of the lyrics change, with Codex being a resolution to the inner conflicts of id and egos
