The Other Side of Your Face

This song. Just great. I'm a little damaged in the mind department so I could be biased, because most everything goes straight to depression in my head...but when I read these lyrics, and hear the way they're sung, it just sounds so hopeless. Like she's just done. And she feels bad because of the people who love her, who are trying to help her, when they don't understand how bad she wants to go.

"I could try to start over this week/But it couldn't change the way I feel." That's my favorite line. For me, its about missing so many days in school that you just feel buried and you can't get out...like there's no point in trying to catch up and restart. And even when I do get on track, I'm still fucking miserable. I still hate myself, I'm still alone when I get home, and I have nothing. But then I think of my mom, my sister, my brother in law. I think of music. TV. It's pathetic, but if wanting to survive until the next episode of Glee or the next album from Lady Gaga is going to keep me from killing myself, then you're fucking right I'm going to wait. But it's still hard to focus on algebra and the French Revolution when your life is so fucking empty and you feel like you're nothing. When other people have it so much worse and you cry about pointless things. I may not have a terrible life, or be homeless, or afraid to walk out of my home, but I'm not...happy, either.

"I could try to change the way I think/If it makes you happy then I will."

Problems that are invisible and not in your face can be easily ignored. These problems in my head can be fixed for you but they will always be there for me.
