Hengilas Lyrics

[Work In Progress]

Og við horfumst í ókunn augu
Samt höfum þekkst alla tíð
Undir vökulum augnaráðum létumst
Stöndum nú tvístíga

Reyni að grafa upp og hjartgæsku og raun
Reyni að brjótast inn
Reyni að bora á, og saga hengilásinn

En allt kemur fyrir ekki neitt
Kominn í niðurlot
Veit ekki hvað plan skal taka
Kominn í ráðaþrot

Reyni að grafa upp og hjartgæsku og raun
Reyni að brjótast inn
Reyni að bora á, og saga hengilásinn

This is a beautiful song, the fact that you can hear the musicians take a breath on the recording makes it truly special for me. It has overtones two definite moods, sad and melancholy at the start, then from 2.48 it changes to being more erethral and almost spiritual. Almost overtones of SR Ara Batur. A pause and then a return to the solemn instrumentals.

Hengilas means Padlock in Icelandic.

This song is astoundingly beautiful, I can definitely hear similarities with the organs / keyboards in this song to the strings in Peter Gabriel's The Book Of Love.. I would love to get an english translation of all the lyrics, though it's pretty much perfect in beautiful mysterious icelandic.. :)

I love this song. Perfect way to end a fantastic album. Here's a rough translation. And we're in a foreign eyes Yet we have known each other all along Under the vigilant eyes councils died Are currently stage

Trying to dig up and goodness of heart and real Trying to break into Trying to drill, and the story hanging lock

But all is for nothing Come in collapse Do not know what the plan should be Come to dominate bankrupt

Trying to dig up and goodness of heart and real Trying to break into Trying to drill, and the story hanging lock
