Let Me Go Lyrics
This golden glow
Is not happiness
It's the dust that you kicked on my face
Before saying goodbye
Oh memory
Won't you speak to me?
Can you show me the boat in my soul
That can sail me back home
Let me go
Let me go
Let me go
You can shave me down
You can clean my teeth
Get me ready to meet all the people
That I thought I knew
But my memory
Has mistaken me
Can't remember the last time
I felt so incredibly young
So let me go
Let me go
Let me go
Let me go
And I try
To leave
But my bones,
Just won't agree
And I try,
To believe
You should try
Set me free
Let me go
Let me go
Let me go
Let me go
Let me go
Is not happiness
It's the dust that you kicked on my face
Before saying goodbye
Won't you speak to me?
Can you show me the boat in my soul
That can sail me back home
Let me go
Let me go
You can clean my teeth
Get me ready to meet all the people
That I thought I knew
Has mistaken me
Can't remember the last time
I felt so incredibly young
Let me go
Let me go
Let me go
To leave
But my bones,
Just won't agree
To believe
You should try
Set me free
Let me go
Let me go
Let me go
Let me go

I'm not sure what this is about. However... recent events shape it like this:
It's told from the perspective of a boy/guy.
The golden glow are his tears (you know those halo's you get when you cry a lot?) Which he's crying because his girlfriend or significant other or whatever left him without saying so.
I believe the next part says "bow of my soul", which i think is intending to mean "as in reverence, submission, salutation, recognition, or acknowledgment." or moreso "to yield; submit". Memories, can you show me the one that has a hold over me? can you show me the one I love back home? And in this case, the answer is no because all he remembers is the leaving
he kills himself
You can get me ready for my funeral. Get me ready to lead the procession of all the people I 'thought' I knew
But he really did know them, and they him, and he really did love people back home. And even though he's now dead, he realizes how incredibly young he was
You try to forget the death, but just can't, because it isn't something you just forget. It's always there.
And he wanted to believe that she would try. And lastly, and finally, and repeatedly, set me free "let me go"....
Correct lyrics:
This golden glow Is not happiness It's the dust that you Kicked on my face before Saying goodbye Oh memory Won't you speak to me Can you show me the Boat in my soul that can Sail me back home
Let me go
You can shave me down You can clean my teeth Get me ready to meet all The people that I thought I knew But my memory has Mistaken me
Can't remember the last Time I felt so Incredibly young
So let me go
And I try to leave But my bones Just won't agree And I try to believe You should try Set me free
Let me go
First of all, this song has such a sweet melody to it. It has a healing effect, so lush and eloquent. The lyrics deal with a youth in conflict with what sounds like authority or even religion. "I try to leave/ but my bones just won't agree". I get the sense of the singer feeling too old in their shoes maybe dealing with this emotional dilemma or unwanted accountability: "get me ready to meet all the people I thought I knew/...memory has mistaken me/...can't remember the last time I felt so incredibly young." RealIzing the situation; they just want to be let go, to get the weight of the world off their back, find their well being or "home", and be set free. Amazing amazing amazing song.
I agree with you 100% To me its almost as if the singer is trying to let go of the ego and just be at peace and at home. She's trying to get to her soul and feel she wants to let go off fake happiness.

I think it has something to do with going back home after you've grown and been away for a long time. No matter what it's about, the first time she sings "So let me go" is absolutely haunting. I'm in love.
Okay. So now I'm thinking break-up that's making her leave. I honestly have no idea. Oh well.
