Fairy Paradise Lyrics

He draws near the periphery
In disbelief on delivery
Came child from the deep inferno
Crusty head of dead volcano
Heartless crow with brittle beak
Wooden leg too shocked to speak
Lilac dust of a woman's hair
A wooden cross a paper prayer
A stone where her body lay
A stack of feathers a pile of hay
A mushroom for an eyeball
A mustache from the snow fall
Worms weave a ring where fairies square dance
Queens and kings, fairies weave wigs with eyelash
Trance music makes the fairies dance

From the caves of snail shells
Echoes the mutter medieval spells
Mystery flows her wicked river
Of thorn and blade and silver sliver
Bending 'round the clover fields
Their sapling stems don't break but yield
Her pain inflicts no arguments
Must learn to sway and un-arrange
As earth she makes her final passage
After humans long have ravaged

Vanished with all maps for motion
Upward angels last devotion
One by one escort us home
To leave the elementals free to roam
To bathe in the last of ocean's foam
To beach comb the nuclear debris
Our plastic toys and our metal trees
On the perfect day you'll find the breeze
Once blew the pollen the feet of bees
Now cry the stars when upon the earth
Their gaze might rest a nostalgic burst
A lament be heard through all the cosmos
Of the dying planet with fallen foes

I bought the CD today and I checked out the lyrics. This is what they are:

Heartless coward, bird of beak When life's too short to speak

Sounds like:

Heartless cold, brittle beak. When life's too shocked to speak

That's what I'm hearing.

could also be

Heartless cold, brittle beak wooden leg too shocked to speak

could also be

Heartless cold, brittle beak wooden leg too shocked to speak

Lilac dust of womens hair

I love Cocorosie so much, i saw these wonderful ladies a few years back, and can't wait to see them next month in Portland Oregon. My dreams are always filled with their words.

This is what I hear:

He draws near the periphery In disbelief and delivery Came child from the deep inferno Crusty head of dead volcano Heartless coward, brittle beak When life's too short to speak Lilac dust of a woman's hair Wind cross the paper prayer A strong will her body lay A stack of feathers, a pile of hay A mushroom for an eyeball A mustache from the snowfall Worms weave a ring where fairies square dance Queens and kings fairies weave works with eyelash Trance music make the fairies dance From the cage of snail shells Of course their mother made evil spells Mystery flows through a wicked river Of thorn and blade and silver sliver Bending around the clover fields Their sapling stems don't break but heal Her pain inflicts no arguments must Learn to sway and unarrange As earth, she makes her final passage After humans long have ravaged

Vanished with all maps for motion Upward angels last devotion One by one escort us home To leave the elementals free to roam To bathe in the last of oceans foam To beach comb The nuclear debris of plastic toys And a meadow trees on the perfect day You'll find the breeze once Blew the pollen to feed the bees Now cried the stars when upon the earth Their gaze might rush, their nostalgia burst Elements be heard through all the cosmos For the dying planet with fallen foes

I'm sure that this isn't 100% accurate. As with most CocoRosie songs, the lyrics are both abstract and hard to decipher.

does anyone know the lyrics that Sierra is singing ?

That's what I'm all about to know!!!

On a live version on YouTube, someone said Sierra was singing: "Lord, hold me"

In this recording you can hear her pretty clearly: http://youtu.be/STeZIBEKDfc At forst I thought she sang: "Gnomes help me", but that's wrong, because she obviously adds an 's' to the word in the middle, so: "(something that rhymes with gnomes) helps me" is what I hear. It looks like a word that begins with an 'm' maybe?

I'm pretty sure Sierra sings either "don't hurt me" or "don't hate me", probably the former.

I think it is "Lord, hold me"

I'm really not sure how it took me this long to figure out what the last verse meant, but here's what I've got thus far....

Vanished with all maps for motion Upward angels last devotion One by one escort us home

(The first three lines of the last verse were put there to symbolize the human race in its entirety being killed off).

To leave the elementals free to roam To bathe in the last of ocean's foam (After a nuclear explosive has done its damage, it continues to do more damage as it creates an uninhabitable area due to radiation and such (hint: elementals free to roam). Although I may be extremely off on the second line, I feel as if it may be describing a tidal wave that was brought on by the nuclear blast?)

To beach comb the nuclear debris Our plastic toys and our metal trees

(These two lines give off a strong sense of symbolism. Plastic toys and metal trees were once used back during the age of Nuclear testing in the test sites themselves to make the housing locations look more "realistic." Beach combing the nuclear debris is pretty straight forward).

On the perfect day you'll find the breeze Once blew the pollen the feet of bees

(I feel like they may have been describing the way it feels to die with the first line. Right before we pass on, our bodies release a chemical called DMT which actually gives off a calming sensation (this is where the "white light" that people describe when dying comes from)).

Now cry the stars when upon the earth Their gaze might rest a nostalgic burst A lament be heard through all the cosmos Of the dying planet with fallen foes

(The last four lines are also pretty self-explanatory as they describe the sorrow and mourn felt from the rest of the Universe to see that Earth has fallen (lament being heard through all the cosmos)).

It's VERY possible that I'm as far from the actual meaning as can be, but for some reason I really feel like Ailuridae hit the nail on the head with his/her thoughts on the song being about the end of humanity.
