This is like "art is hard" for me. It's hard to genuinely express yourself through art unless you're miserable. The critics aren't going to love you unless they can see you bleeding. You can't be happy and critically acclaimed.
This song is so good. The end makes me want to cry every time.

I believe it's about any person feeling unfairly critcized; feeling picked upon and feeling doomed from the start; and basically saying F-U... I will survive in spite of your opinion of me. Definitely some anger tossed in for good measure.

holy SHIT what a great song. stickles lyricism is among the best i've ever heard, love the civil war elements. what other band can quote the likes of william lloyd garrison, jefferson davis, etc and make it work so fucking hard???????
