I play WOW
Can't nobody fuck with me now
I wanna stop but I don't know how
It's my crowd
And I'm proud, fuck you, I'm down
Shut your mouth

I play WOW

School's out, work's over take your ass to coffee bean
I gotta get to Azeroth, you fuckers ain't stopping me
My shit's legit, look me up in the Armory
We're in war, motherfucker, there's no peace or harmony

No-one seems to get it, but that's all right
My girl keeps bitchin', complaining and starting fights
She wants to cuddle, watch movies in the candle light
But wednesdays through fridays are strictly raid nights

When I'm down or depressed, I go connect
My real friends are online, fighting to the death
Mom's banging on my door: "Come eat your chicken in peas"
I got last night's pizza, bitch, that's all I need

I call it straight dedication, you can call me crazy
You talking shit, man, why don't you come and play me
I'm going twenty-two hours, fuck you, I'm lazy
I'm pwning noobs at PVP and my level's past eighty

I play WOW
Can't nobody fuck with me now
I wanna stop but I don't know how
It's my crowd
And I'm proud, fuck you, I'm down
Shut your mouth

I play WOW
I play WOW
I play WOW
Turn it up, say it loud
I play WOW
I play WOW
I play WOW
Turn it up, say it loud
I play WOW

You could say I'm a fanatic, or even addicted
Say my habits are bad, my fucking life's conflicted
But if it makes me happy, why should I quit this
The world brings me down, WOW makes me uplifted

Every moment with my guild is a moment I cherish
Call me a nerd, call me a geek, I am no longer embarassed
Say I'm socially fucked, never had kids or a marriage
I don't live my life for money, fame or chasing your carrots

And while people like to hate, discriminate and be mean
In my world, we work together to defeat the Lich King
Doesn't matter if you're black, white, ugly or fat
Everyone be kicking ass in the World of WarCraft

Real life can be bullshit and put me down
Telling me I ain't shit and I'm on shaky ground
But I don't hear that anymore, I got my own damn crowd
Middle finger to you all, 'cause I play WOW

I play WOW
Can't nobody fuck with me now
I'm on a quest with my guild, get you wow
It's my crowd
And I'm proud, fuck you, I'm down
Shut your mouth

I play WOW
I play WOW
I play WOW
Turn it up, say it loud
I play WOW
I play WOW
I play WOW
Turn it up, say it loud
I play WOW

I'm down with the Horde, I'm a blood elf paladin
Alliance fucking with me, the humans are challenging
When you can't understand me, this is what I do
Tell you get off of my dick, go learn your class, noob

Better yet, go play Rock Band with that sad guitar
And no I don't wanna date your fucking avatar
I'm getting busy clocking kills in every single way
My guild's legit, holy shit, this ain't Felicia Day

And who thought there'd come a time the world would see
Millions of fucked up people who feel just like me
I'm living like a god in Silvermoon City
Rocking the Ashbringer while your life is shitty

I play WOW
Can't nobody fuck with me now
I wanna stop but I don't know how
It's my crowd
And I'm proud, fuck you, I'm down
Shut your mouth

I play WOW
I play WOW
I play WOW
Turn it up, say it loud
I play WOW
I play WOW
I play WOW
Turn it up, say it loud
I play WOW

As a W.o.W. player I can say that the lyrics are 100% how I feel about the game. It is an escape route from the bitter reality, wether you are feeling down or even when you are happy, meeting with your guild and playing makes you better. And while I feel this, there is a lot of people who complain, act like jerks about it or go as far as to say videogames are bad. They are just wrong.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
