Art Czars Lyrics
I'm really sorry if you thought this feeling
was the fire keeping your heart beating
Here's your money back
Here's your punk rock back
I'm really sorry if you want more screaming
You missed my heart but you've got my ears bleeding
Here's your money back
Here's your punk rock back
I'm really sorry if you're still believing
they can suck in angels and then spit out demons
Here's your money back
Here's your punk rock back
I'm really sorry if you're disappearing
You hear that sound? That's us cheering.
Here's your money back
Here's your punk rock back
Do as i say girls.
Do as i say boys.
Everyone's their own rebellion.
Everyone's their own rebellion.
Do as i say girls.
Do as i say boys.
Everyone's their own rebellion.
Everyone's their own rebellion.
(x2)

It's acutally: Everyone's their own rebellion
Going just by ear, I heard it as "everyone to the rebellion"
Going just by ear, I heard it as "everyone to the rebellion"
Just got the 7'' in the mail. The sleeve says the lyric is: everyone do the rebellion<br> But Spin magazine had an article confirming my post above. I believe they alternate between the two in the song.
Holy shit, wow! Back in October I saw these guys play in Hoboken. At that point I had yet to listen to this song, which in hindsight was actually a good thing, since I would have been devastated by its absence from the set-list. Oh well. Have it in good faith that next time around this glorious anthem will be part of their arsenal.
For me, this is the Japandroid's best song-writing yet. Truly, a rock and roll song that would make the Clash proud!
FRom Post nothing and No Singles, I entertained the idea that the Japandroids are keenly aware of the dual-nature of their sound. One part of them wants to bash out quintessential punk rock, fast and pure, like from Zen Arcade or the Ramones. But also part of them wants to have a sound that is a little more wide open. Here they take their foot off the gas slightly and float for a while through the either. Now they can pedal themselves along as though on a long bike ride, only, it is not pedals, but their music that propels them, and they can speed up or slow down as they see fit.
I am not sure how they view this duality, although my guess would be they are essentially at peace with it. But at times it is possible they conflicted over how they should play; perhaps also feeling pressure not to alienate audiences/fans who strongly preferred only a single end of the dual-spectrum.
So maybe this song is partially a response to people at both ends saying "forget about labeling or conforming to an established genre niche...Here we are...Now come on boys and girls, LETS ROCK!
