Life's too short to even care at all oh
I'm losing my mind losing my mind losing control
These fishes in the sea they're staring at me oh oh oh oh oh oh
A wet world aches for a beat of a drum, oh

If I could find a way to see this straight, I'd run away
To some fortune that I, I should have found by now
I'm waiting for this cough syrup to come down, come down

Life's too short to even care at all oh
I'm coming up now coming up now out of the blue oh
These zombies in the park they're looking for my heart oh oh oh oh
A dark world aches for a splash of the sun oh oh

If I could find a way to see this straight, I'd run away
To some fortune that I, I should have found by now

And so I run to the things they said could restore me
Restore life the way it should be
I'm waiting for this cough syrup to come down

Life's too short to even care at all oh
I'm losing my mind losing my mind losing control

If I could find a way to see this straight, I'd run away
To some fortune that I, I should have found by now

And so I run to the things they said could restore me
Restore life the way it should be
I'm waiting for this cough syrup to come down

One more spoon of cough syrup now whoa
One more spoon of cough syrup now whoa

    My Opinion

I see this song referring to someone who can fall can be infatuated someone, but knows that nothing will ever come of it. (Somewhat unrequited love)

Life's too short to even care at all oh I'm losing my mind losing my mind losing control

(They know they shouldn't care for the person they want, as they will never be together, however they can't help it and would rather pretend something exists, rather than face reality.)

These fishes in the sea they're staring at me oh oh Oh oh oh oh A wet world aches for a beat of a drum Oh

(People are interested in this person who is infatuated, however they see the 'other fishes in the sea' as nothing compared to the said person they 'like')

If I could find a way to see this straight I'd run away To some fortune that I should have found by now

(They have been unlucky in the past and they wish that they could find a happy relationship, they see this as another person they like, but a relationship will not ensue)

I'm waiting for this cough syrup to come down, come down

(They can't stop thinking about the person and are now at the point where they don't want to like them, as they fear getting hurt. Basically they can't wait to move on and no longer have feeling for this person)

    Uhh ch ch ch ch

Life's too short to even care at all oh

    (Same as previous)

I'm coming up now coming up now out of the blue These zombies in the park they're looking for my heart Oh oh oh oh A dark world aches for a splash of the sun oh oh

(This person feels lonely and cold hence the blue and the dark world. All they want is to be in a relationship and happy which is reference to the sun as it is warm and bright. The zombies is the lack of luck, that the person has in love. I see the zombies as something that will rip out the persons heart, again with the idea of being hurt.)

If I could find a way to see this straight I'd run away To some fortune that I should have found by now

    (Same as previous)

And so I run now to the things they said could restore me Restore life the way it should be I'm waiting for this cough syrup to come down

(This could be a reference to drugs or alcohol as a way to take their mind off of their love life. It could also be a reference to friends being there etc. They are ultimately trying too lose their feelings for this person, they hate that they 'love them'.)

Life's too short to even care at all oh I'm losing my mind losing my mind losing control

If I could find a way to see this straight I'd run away To some fortune that I should have found by now

So I run now to the things they said could restore me Restore life the way it should be I'm waiting for this cough syrup to come down

    (Same as previous)

One more spoon of cough syrup now [x2]

(They want the infatuation to end as quickly as possible as they are know that they'll probably get hurt, again. This therefore makes me believe that they have 'liked' many people, and is probably happier imagining love than experiencing it.)

    Just my view :)

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
