Solitary Gun Lyrics
Will I follow you down the line?
Will I follow you down the line?
Stepped off the the train and looked for Fruitvale signs
The January air it whips across my spine
Whoa, whoa
We've been suffering the six days since he died
I saw a picture of his mother as she cried
Go to where the people go
We'll dig some piece of mind
And it burns, hot, real
To feel this feel
They're setting clothes to flame, an imaginary sun
They'll lay their boot heel down for a solitary gun
The hand that punches its own face, it begs for more again
Shot echoed lonely from a solitary gun
Oh, yeah
Shops are looted and the windows are broken ice
She said "It's emotional but it's not nice"
Will you be the bed for me when they set the world on fire
Just to see it burn
In a consolation urn
And my stomach turns to steel
They're setting clothes to flame, an imaginary sun
They'll lay their boot heel down for a solitary gun
This moment doesn't happen every night
Shot echoed lonely from a solitary gun
This brother's sister's mother's business is all gone
Stepped on her neck when we used to just sing songs
Whoa, whoa
We're setting clothes to flame, an imaginary sun
They'll lay their boot heel down for a solitary gun
This moment doesn't happen every night
Shot echoed lonely from a solitary gun
Will I follow you down the line?
The January air it whips across my spine

On their twitter - roguewaveband - Zach wrote this: we recorded the song 'solitary gun' because of the shooting of Oscar Grant. I was wondering what you all feel about the event and the trial. Read about it on wikipedia and be informed! haha.
That's it, the Oscar Grant shooting and its aftermath

this song has to have something to do with Evan Farrel, who died in 2007. they said they sort of made this album to honor him but try to leave behind the past by doing something new and fresh
I feel like this song is about suicide. The talk of guns and mother crying, and well, death, makes me think of suicide.
If not, maybe it has to do with the stress of living. And how your choices affect everyone around you.
Well whatever it's about, I quite like it.
This song seems to me to be talking how death effects those left behind. I think it is talking about how each person must face death alone, and everyone who loses someone to death face it together. We lean on each other and seek comfort in others when we have lost someone who is dear to us.
