Your Love Is Black Lyrics
Look out to the calm sea
I don't know why
That I want to cry
When I feel this high
Nature seems to know me
So many times she's been below me
And so I sing and we dream
As my soul she tries to lift
It seems I lost my way last night
But I was reborn by daylight
Seems I get another chance
Another chance to dance it all away
Now you bring your loving back
But don't you know your love is black?
And now you're here pouring in the dark
Because you can't see inside my heart
My heart...
My heart...
Look out
Your love is black
Look out
Your love is black
Look out
Your love is black
Close my eyes
And I can breathe
I can feel
What is right
What is true
What is real
Seems you lost your way last night
And you were back here by daylight
Now your words are black and cold
And your lines are tired and old
Nature is calming me
Because your love was harming me
And now I shed that coat of harm
I wasn't safe there in your arms
Look out
Your love is black
Look out
Your love is black
Look out
Your love is black
Lost my way
It's true i loved you once
It's true you were once mine
Lost my way...
I don't know why
That I want to cry
When I feel this high
So many times she's been below me
And so I sing and we dream
As my soul she tries to lift
But I was reborn by daylight
Seems I get another chance
Another chance to dance it all away
But don't you know your love is black?
And now you're here pouring in the dark
Because you can't see inside my heart
My heart...
My heart...
Your love is black
Look out
Your love is black
Look out
Your love is black
And I can breathe
I can feel
What is right
What is true
What is real
And you were back here by daylight
Now your words are black and cold
And your lines are tired and old
Nature is calming me
Because your love was harming me
And now I shed that coat of harm
I wasn't safe there in your arms
Your love is black
Look out
Your love is black
Look out
Your love is black

This song is very deep and emotional. There is a reason why it is the last song on "Strobelight Seduction". It is the "coming down" song, after all the party songs. This is the song you listen to after a night of raving, etc. The sun begins to rise and you start to feel again and reflect on your life. I feel like this song is about recovery/sobriety. Anyone who has ever been in recovery or has been in a relationship with an addict can understand this song. Recovery is getting that second chance. The "love" in this song is the drug/alcohol.. whatever. Everything we've come to "love" about this drug, we realize actually has been hurting us. This song is about letting it go.
Pretty sure this song is about ecstasy because Ryan was a former raver. There's a reason who promotes a safe/no drug policy to his rave fam.
In general it could be about any kind of substance you use when going back to the club every weekend.
