The Moon-Atomic (...Fragments and Fictions)

It's like the day has turned to rust
Like every dream's been sealed shut
Like every door has closed before we've gotten out
As bullets rip the air in two from house to house

We are all that we are
So terribly sorry

The moon you felt
It has no side
That's dark like hell
Or safe from light
Just blown apart
By wind from stars
With white dust tides
To pull on our arms

I see the crowds, they're giving in
For some, they're better off that day
The bombs go off, the shells they're glowing red at first
The less there is to feel each night upon the earth

We are all that we are
So terribly sorry

The moon you felt
It has no side
That's dark like hell
Or safe from light
Just blown apart
By wind from stars
With white dust tides
To pull on our arms

the first and second verse are about the "final war," the earth coming to an end... soul survivors is a follow up, and the end result of what happens.

"we are all that we are. so terribly sorry" is a reflection on the sad point humanity has reached and it is all culminating in a final, last war.

"for some there better off that day" these are the ones in the 3rd world countries, who will be going to a better place

and its not "to pull on arms"

its "to pull on OURS" as in the tides of our planet

This is one amazing song live, they don't play the guitar in the background though, Matt plays keyboard and David and Atom play these huge ass drums. It was life changing lol

Perhaps this song is about trying and failing...and realizing you tried your best and forcing regrets from your mind.

"We are all that we are..." meaning I am what I am, and it is what it is. I will not apologize or look back in regret, even though the end result was not what I had hoped it would be.

The perception of the Moon by Humans has always been that there is a dark side of the moon. The side that never exposes itself for the earth to see. The fact is, there is no "Dark Side" of the Moon. Atleast, no different than Earth at Night.

The "Moon" represents the unknown people, cultures, or society's that are aparently alien to us. Seen from a distance, but actually closely related to what makes us what we are. The Unknown is judged and we all feel we're right because the "Moon" cannot be here to defend itself or correct our misconceptions. Alot like the way Non-Muslim's perceive Islam in the Middle East (as an example). ...All we see is a single side of the "Moon", but there's more to the Moon than just that side and it's not what we think it is. The moon is our Earth's brother. The Moon and Earth are in a sense, One and the Same, and could not exist without eachother. Only Time and Space has made them seem separate

"The moon you felt (felt = perception). It has no side that's dark like hell or safe from light

  • The side you don't see/know DOES get light from the Sun JUST LIKE OUR PLANET.. Just like Us)

"Just blown apart by wind from stars"

  • The Moon is what it is for a reason. It has gone through more than we realize. Though our lives are beautiful with green grass, blue skys, life; the Moon suffered through something it could not survive... Blown Apart by the radiation of our Sun.

"with white dust tides to pull on [Ours]"

  • Though seemingly dead, the Moon is a bringer of life alot like the Sun. It's gravitational pull lifts and stirs our water into tides that created a situation that mixed all forms of molecules and elements to create what we know as life. Ina way, the Moon is a parent of Earth's life (or like the Oldest Brother that helped raise the family). Working together with the Sun, Earth and the Universe. The "Moon" deserves love and respect just as much as Mother Earth.

The Moon is our Brother

On Pink Floyd most famous album, the final words are, "There is no Dark Side of the Moon, actually. Actually, it is all dark". Roger Water knew the the because the Moon rotates, every stop (except in deep craters at the poles), all the Moon has two weeks of daylight and two weeks of night. "The Dark Side of the Moon" is a metaphor.

I wonder of Tom DeLonge knew this? Unless you speaking about the metaphor, the actually term is "The Far Side of the Moon" because the Moon keep half pointing at the Earth and the Far Side always away from us.
