Name Lyrics

Seven days old in the icu tonight
Little baby boy, they don't want to have to say goodbye
Your mother's on the phone
Your father's in the hall
Prayin' "God,save this life"

He sees you
He's near you
He knows your face
He knows your pain
He sees you and He loves you
He knows your name
He knows your name

Four doors down there's a man who just won't wake up
He crashed so hard
And the doctor's want to pull the plug
Your wife is by your side sayin' "Not tonight"
Prayin' God will just show up.

He sees you
He's near you
He knows your face
He knows your pain
He sees you and He loves you
He knows your name
He knows your name

Maybe you're alone
In a corner of an empty house
Or maybe you're the one
No one notices in the crowd

He sees you
He's near you
He knows your face
He knows your pain
He sees you and He loves you
He knows your name
He knows your name

He knows your name
He knows your name

The first time my mom and I heard this song, we started crying.

I can totally see, in the first part, a true feeling of helplessness. Mom and dad praying to God, please, please PLEASE don't let our son die.

Mom agreed with me, and the fact that the baby boy couldn't live his life. 7 days old, not even able to see the world yet. That has to make the parents feel really helpless and very... distraught.

The chorus is just to remind us that He's always there, even when it seems like He's not, He is - He knows us. Better than anyone we know who say they know us.

The second part is a little bit more positive, the man got to at least live his life before he crashed. Whether it was a stroke, heart attack or an actual car crash. The wife doesn't want to let him go, but I think she knows, deep down, that God is saying to her husband "It's your time. Come with me to escape the trauma of the world."

The bridge is still more positivity - it doesn't matter where you are, whether you're the face in the crowd that no one sees, or the one alone in a house, or the one sitting alone in a cafeteria. He sees you, He knows you, and He's sitting there with you.
