Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.
Come again
I couldn’t hear those last words
They sounded thin
Like you were speaking backwards
And after all we’ve said and done
We’re finally seeing
So this is what I get
For being brave
this is what you give
After all I gave
I gave myself
Held nothing back for your sake
We parted ways
With a half-hearted hug and handshake
Our love’s run dry, this can’t go on
We’re finally seeing
So this is what I get
For being brave
So this is what you give
After all I gave
Yeah I can see what you’re doing to me
So this is what I get
Im standing tall, standing tall, standing tall
But I was falling for you
I couldn’t hear those last words
They sounded thin
Like you were speaking backwards
And after all we’ve said and done
We’re finally seeing
So this is what I get
For being brave
this is what you give
After all I gave
I gave myself
Held nothing back for your sake
We parted ways
With a half-hearted hug and handshake
Our love’s run dry, this can’t go on
We’re finally seeing
So this is what I get
For being brave
So this is what you give
After all I gave
Yeah I can see what you’re doing to me
So this is what I get
Im standing tall, standing tall, standing tall
But I was falling for you

In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
I agree. This is an amazing song.
