The Child In Us Lyrics

प्रसन्न-वदानं सौभाग्यदं भाग्यदं
हस्ताभ्यां अभय-प्रदान मणि-गणैर-नाना-विधैर-भूषिताम:।

(i bow to the one who has lotus in her hand, has a pleasant happy face, who gives good fortune and destiny, gives refuge (fearlessness) with her hand (posture), who is adorned with lots of gems and other ways, who gives the vrey much desired fruits to the devotees)

Puer natus est nobis,
Et filius datus est nobis
Cujus emperium super humerum
(For to us a child is born,
To us a son is given:
And the government will be upon his shoulder)

Some day you came
And I knew you were the one
You were the rain, you were the sun
But I needed both, cause I needed you

You were the one
I was dreaming of all my life
When it is dark you are my light
But don't forget
Who's always our guide

It is the child in us

This song is clearly praising the Creator for creating us and making us pure beings like Children that we are.

What an astounding piece of music. Makes me glad to be alive. Enigma made some of the very best music ever, and this is no exception.

The verses of this song are from the Bible! It’s about Lord Jesus Christ living in us. That’s the Enigma of this song.

@aziza10590 I was wondering why no one saw it this way. I think it’s a no brainer. Thanks

@aziza10590 The 1st verses are from the Sacred scripture of Hindu Religion namely "Geeta".

The lyrics blend religious or spiritual references with personal emotions and relationships. They touch upon themes of divine presence, the arrival of a significant person, the reliance on them, and the enduring qualities of childlike wonder and innocence.

There's a mix of Sanskrit and English phrases. The Sanskrit describes a divine figure who is benevolent, bestows good fortune, and is adorned with precious ornaments. It presents an image of a powerful and compassionate entity. It then has a reference to biblical verses from Isaiah 9:6, which prophesy the birth of a child who will hold authority and bring about a new order.

The English parts talk about the arrival of someone special in the singer's life. The person is described metaphorically as both the rain and the sun, indicating that they bring different qualities and fulfill different needs for the singer. They talk about a deep emotional connection and reliance on the person being addressed. They are portrayed as the long-awaited dream and a source of light during dark times. The last line acknowledges the presence of a constant guiding force in their lives.

"It is the child in us" means that the sense of wonder, innocence, and openness associated with childhood remains within the singer and the person being addressed. It signifies a connection at a fundamental level, beyond superficial distinctions.

I can't believe no one has commented on this song! Going by the lyrics, it can be inferred that the song emphasizes the importance of listening to that innocent little child in us, but personally, I've always ended up imagining stars, galaxies, and the very beginning of time and space while listening to this song. It's simply a brilliant piece of work.

The language in the first verse is Sanskrit which is an ancient Indian language and the second verse is Latin.

Truly a thought-provoking song that manifests deep connotation in the mind.

The first: I hope that the initial idea of Michael is to emphasize that the child in us lives throughout entire our Earth life-long. Yes, this is the call from inside, the childhood memories which are unfortunately still to understand. This is all about the child as a living spirit inside. On the other hand Michael gave us the phrases "The Universal Justice and the Eyes of Truth are always watching you..." What we can get from it? In my vision the deep meaning is that Universe is ought to watch over our inner world, to watch over child in us. We all have to remember that Everything in the Universe is already been, now exists and will always be. Ever. Since the time is comparatively soft and elastic the human would never realize how the Truth looks like. We all just have to chose our way from endless variety of outcomes. The second: This is the only song from the first time I have heard till now which pushes me dramatically to the Endless Sorrow and the Endless Joy at the same time. This feeling grows in every stage of the song: when the first Sanskrit starts, later, when flutes starts, finally when Cretu sings. What is it? I have been asking myself all these years... Thank you for reading.

@MerBen I can agree with you on this one.

Everytime i listened to this song, there is just something in me that overflows my body with such calmness. as in like i have been lied to all along. that i have been made to believe I am something that i am not. That i have tied myself to the rolling of the world of which i do not know where it is going but i am right there in the midst of it. like my innocence has been taken away form and now i am lost trying to find out...

I love this song. The meaning is something just beyond my grasp. I feel as soon as I understand, then it changes. Somehow it evokes strong emotions for me, bringing tears...not of sorrow necessarily...somber, maybe. I just love it.
