I'll give to you
If you give to me
I always want to hear
What's on your mind
And from the other side
Can you still answer me
'Cause we'll crave to be
Understood...yeah
And what I want to say
And what I need to hear
And what I want to feel
Is in those arms
And I'll sing to you
If you sing to me
Because I long to hear
What's on your heart...yeah
Forget me
I'm tired and wasted
Hopeless and faded
Listless and jaded
Forget me
I'm tired of waiting
I'm still underrated
I'm hopeful but jaded
But just remember
This is a beautiful mistake
I really need you
As our silence starts to break
It's stronger than fire
Greater than all the wars we waged
And I don't know what you want me to be
But I don't want to be perfect anymore
I'll share with you
If you share with me
I always want to hear
What's on your mind
And from the other side
Can you still answer me?
Because I live to speak
What's on my heart...yeah
Forget me
I'm tired and wasted
Listless and jaded
Hopeless and faded
Forget me
I'm tired of waiting
Still underrated
But I'm finally awake
Let us remember
Life's such a beautiful mistake
It's precious and fragile
Sometimes more than we can take
It's stronger than fire
Greater than all things men create
And I don't know what you want from me
But I don't want to be perfect anymore
Let just remember
Life's such a beautiful mistake
It's precious and fragile
Sometimes more than we can take
It's stronger than fire
Greater than all the wars we waged
And letting go of fault and blame
'Cause I don't want to be perfect anymore
Yeah, I don't want to be perfect anymore
And you don't have to be perfect anymore
But your love, your love, your love, your love
Is perfect just the same
(repeat x4)

Life, Love, Pain, Beauty. In all it's about being human, I believe. The ever present struggle to hold on to the beauty in life when everything around you is crumbling down, and that love doesn't necessarily have to be towards a someone.
"Let just remember Life's such a beautiful mistake It's precious and fragile Sometimes more than we can take"
Pretty much sums up the entirety of the song, and my outlook on life. Jaded, yet helplessly hopeful, we grow up, people expect us to be perfect, stress increases more then we ever thought possibly in our youth, and it's very hard to hold on to the good. Just gotta keep telling yourself how beautiful life is.
And yes, Kaia at the end is absolutely adorable. I grinned the widest smile I had in a long, long time when I heard that part.
Wow, no one has commented on this song yet? It's amazing! The beat and the lyrics...everything. Probably my favorite song on "These Hopeful Machines"
When I'm listening to this song I think of someone who has been through the toughest situations of life. Someone has been broken down multiple times. But he (for the sake of the voice of the song) keep on rebuilding himself to become something more "perfect". Almost like he was human once but he kept on rebuilding himself with robotic parts.
He meets someone whom has so much effect on him, and he really wants their love, however he cannot obtain it due to the fact that he has lost so much of himself that or that person doesn't love him back even though their love is probably the most perfect thing to complete him.
In my head I see him breaking down, literly. Ripping apart all of the robotic parts that has built up to create him and he's left with nothing but his inner child (ending of the song is sung by a child).
Haha my view on it might not make any sense, but it makes sense in my head.
Kaia!!! It's odd that this album is so effective that you almost feel proud when she comes on at the end of this song.
I think the song is utterly amazing -- I haven't given much thought as to what the song is about -- just love the sheer emotion of it all.
Always assumed that it was kind of a message/comment toward his ex regarding the kidnapping stunt and custody battle thing. Like, despite what happened between them, their daughter was more important and they needed to do what was in her best interest, always.
