Joining the Dots (Acoustic) Lyrics

Try and think of something colourful for this season
Pull the wool over the gullible for no reason
You are all i have these days, shake it up and run away
With the night squabbling behind you

From the smoke in your hair to the blood in the bruise
and the bows on the shoes you kicked off
I'm joining the dots.

I'm joining the dots.
Thought I heard them talking in their sleep yesterday
And I tried but I just can't believe a thing they say
Hurry up they'll be here soon, sleeping in the afternoon
While the rain's trying to prove a point outside

From the smoke in your hair to the blood in the bruise
and the bows on the shoes you kicked off
I'm joining the dots.
I'm joining the dots.

Those people make me calm, calm the flame
Come up to the mouth for a change
And darling if it's all the same to you, I'll have you to myself
I'm joining the dots.
I'm joining the dots.

I'd like to point out that I believe it's "Those people make me cough, can't the flame come up to the moth for a change?"

as in, hearing about all the people she's been with makes him sick, and why can't the flame (her) come to the moth (him) instead of the traditional moth having to flock to the flame? That probably meaning, he wishes she'd pursue him more instead of the other way around.

Well, I'm pretty sure it's about a guy whose girlfriend is cheating on him constantly. "Pull the woll over the gullible"- she's stringing him along, and he is innocent enough to believe everything is fine. He figures out the truth (Joining the Dots) by the way she comes home at night ("Smoke in your hair", "Blood in your bruise", Kicking off her shoes). "Those people make me calm the flame"- Could also be "Count the flame", hard to hear what's he saying. either way he lists the guys she's been sleeping with, and it turns him off to her. Then he asks her if it's "all the same" to "Have you to myself". asks her to stop fooling around with others.

That's what I think. Hoping poor alex turner doesn't get cheated on :)

I saw them live last night and they played this. I thought he said 'Join In the Dance'

oh, damn you! I saw them two weeks ago and I wanted them to play this so badly, but they didn't. I was so disappointed. They did "Catapult", though, which is also a great B-Side, from "Cornerstone".

Ah! I wanted them to do Catapult! Either way, it was fantastic.

I saw them at a couple of weeks ago and they did both. Haha. Sorry. :)
