Butterfly Wings Lyrics

If I was a raindrop, would you be my thunder storm?
It's cold, so surround me with rain clouds to keep me warm.
I feel like I'm falling so, darling, don't let me go.
The thought is appalling, but should I slip away into the stormy sea,
would you remember me?

Asleep in our warm cocoons, we dream of lovely things.
We're both gonna wake up soon,
so we hope that tomorrow brings us our butterfly wings.

If I was a grain of sand, would you be Miami Beach?
So dusty with starlight, close your eyes and cuddle close to me.
I'll try not to wake you or make a sound while you're dozing off.
But in the night, should the high tide sweep me away from you,
tell me again, my dear, will you be waiting here?

Whenever we leave the ground and take to the sky,
I'll smile as I'm gazing down 'cause I've always wondered why
we won't need feathers to fly.

Okay, I've fallen in love with this song. Yes, because it's amazing, but also because it just helped me solve a bit of a problem.

See, I've been trying to decide which high school to go to. One is high-tec, amazing curriculum, and very college-prep. The other is so friendly and welcoming, but the curriculum isn't as good. I'd really have to apply myself to do as well there as in the first school. But I really like that school.

So when I heard the line, "We won't need feathers to fly," I realized that, to me, it means that I don't need the college-prep curriculum and technology to do well and get into a good college. As long as I work hard, I don't need those 'feathers' to 'fly.' Thanks, Adam. <3

he reaches out to alot of people doesnt he? he reached out to me. hes one of four reasons why i write music.the others are God, the love of my life, and my best friend. thanks adam. ;)

This song is about him and a girl, and he loves her so much she means more to him than he does himself(not in a bad way) and so by being so small like a rain drop ore one grain of sand, she is greater than him, a storm and a beach. Also hes afraid of losing her bc at the end of both verses he asks if something happened to him, would she still love him? By saying they both hope to get butterfly wings, hes saying that one day theyll both be great, and also equal. At the end, they both use their butterfly wings to fly, and they dont need feathers to fly because they are both great together the way they are idk if its all right, but i think it could be close

Maybe it's just me, but the last line "I've always wondered why We won't need feathers to fly" makes me think of Heaven. I think we'll be able to fly there, free from the limits of this faded place we call the physical world. There's a more substantial world, one that God will give us a new body for, and anything will be possible. No feathers necessary. :)
