This song is talking about the way that an addict (drug or alcohol) has when they realize that they are missing the parts of regular, sober life that are meaningful to them (i.e. "heavy talking"). It's about wanting to be present and active participants in their own life ("No I won't want to drift anymore") and about needing to rely on people they can trust that can help them stay on track ("I'm the one with fog on the mirror, you're the one who's seeing it clearer...You're the one holding the flashlight now").
