Midnight Monday and a Telescope Lyrics

I've got a telescope
velvet moons of blue
I was movin' through
and my ears were cold.
I couldn't hear you right.
I couldn't hear you right.
then it all went black
and, honey, in the dark I had a heart attack
now it's midnight on the ocean
I'm never coming back
never comin' back.

You drifted through my window
on a silver breeze
smellin' of a dream
I heard the boats
oh, lady midnight
they run through me on rapid streams
they're movin' on
movin' on
I'm not so sure what's goin' on
but again, the sun, the moon went black
shook me 'round, then shook me back
I heard the birds, I heard the bells
I heard the mournin'/mornin' rising from the hills
I'll wait for it to clean me up
to shake me up, to wake me up
(all the pretty people, are they, livin' in this little garden?)
wake me up, wake me up, wake me up, wake me up
(spring in there, colors, eyes, and tonight the moon won't catch you cryin')
wake me up, wake me up, wake me up, wake me up
(all the pretty people, are they, livin' in this little garden)
wake me up, wake me up, wake me up, wake me up
(spring in there, colors eyes, and tonight the moon won't catch you cryin').

Cover art for Midnight Monday and a Telescope lyrics by Cotton Jones Basket Ride, The

Just shared this song with a friend, and finding out that we were both sitting in our bedrooms in seperate cities in the middle of a monday night smoking (do not try this at home) and listening to this tune he came up with a beautiful thought - the song being about a night like that and that our thoughts were driting off to another place "through a telescope".

Music is everything.
