The Light That Shines Twice As Bright... Lyrics
Take me by the hand,
and leave me to the slaughter,
Close my eyes and sing just let it go.
The warmest rain, it falls
on the darkest crimson mountains.
Seeping from the wound,
I think alone.
Don't say the pain will fade tomorrow;
The last thing that I'll feel will be today.
Hey.
You, you, you,
Don't you know?
You took upon my soul.
(I'll never feel this way again)
You, you, you,
Don't you know?
you put me on my knees
and cut my throat.
(I'll never feel this way again)
I lost my positivity.
I'm positively lost.
I thought the path was obvious; it's not.
Resign myself to failed potential,
the wind, it hits the sails.
my scarlet hands staining these two nails.
But don't say the pain will fade tomorrow;
The last thing that I feel will be today.
Hey.
You, you, you,
Don't you know?
You took upon my soul.
(I'll never feel this way again)
You, you, you,
Don't you know?
you put me on my knees
and cut my throat.
(I'll never feel this way again)
Oh.

"my scarred hands sustain in these two nails."
its actually "my scarlet hands staining these two nails" i think. jesus reference...ironic
I thought it was "cut my throat" not cut my bones, but I could be wrong there!!
Anyway, I find this song incredible. The intensity of it is amazing.
Im pretty sure that it is 'Cut my Throat' aswell, (I personally think it would also make more sense!!) plus when i saw them do this live a few weeks ago i swear that 'Cut my Throat' is the lyric that Ian sang, it was amazing live! I also agree that the song is incredible!

I think this is a song about a victim of sexual abuse killing themselves ("The last thing that I\'ll feel will be today "). It makes me cry because of what Ian Watkins has been charged with.\n"You took apart my soul... I\'ll never feel this way again." Maybe this is the victim talking to the person who hurt him, saying, you f*cked me up. \nAnd the line "I lost my positivity, I\'m positively lost" is the victim stating how he feels after. \n"You put me on my knees and cut my throat." The abuser may as well have pulled the trigger themselves. \nThe powerful ending with "This is how it feels!" makes me feel like maybe the narrator is explaining his feelings through extreme violence and despair.\n\nPowerful song.
love this song!
i adore this song. Ian watkins writes the most amazing lyrics, really deep and atmospheric. This would be amazing live. I love that lostprophets have so many sides to them, they have their harsh, argumentative, rebellious side, with songs such as 'Its not the end of the world' and 'Burn, burn' Yet they also have a really sensitive and soulful side, with songs like this and 'Always, all ways' (which is possibly my favourite ever lostprophets song) I love this album, and all the songs on it :) <3
Just a quick addition, but the title of the song is actually "The Light that Shines Twice as Bright". Might want to consider changing it :)
