Thirteen days on a gig in the south
Thirteen days on a gig in the South.
We've got enough dope to keep us all around
We've got two girls dancin' to bring in a crowd
A sound man to mix us, make us sound loud
Sometimes we make money, sometimes I don't know
There's thirteen days with five to go

There's Birmingham, Mobile, and up to Baton Rouge
We're smokin' cigarettes and reefer, drinkin' coffee and
booze
I saw the sun go down in Atlanta, come up in New Orleans
I got to know a waitress, I tried to get in her jeans
Sometimes we make money, sometimes I don't know
There's thirteen days with five to go

Migrant Worker is the name of this band
If we're ever in your town, come see us if you can
Yeah, we been to New Orleans, we been to New York
Some take to the magazines, some take to dope
Sometimes we make money, sometimes I don't know
Thirteen days with five to go

Can't believe I had to add this song on here .. my favorite song by JJ Cale .. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers also have a good cover of it with slightly different lyrics

Lyrics are pretty self explanatory thought

Classic love story true to his western tx roots. One of my favorites as a story, but I think there are alot of songs that are amazing not even listed on this site. I guess I should figure out how to add them, because I have about 8 REK cd's.

This song is def a twin to "Unfair" (a song she has been quoted as saying is about falling in love with someone who is already in a relationship) so it is presumably about the same person. Given the references to buying an apartment and not being able to see her love interest "after tonight," it's most likely that she's moving away and she'll "wait a day to break the bad news" (i.e. notifying him that she's leaving once she's already gone). And, of course, the fact that she sees in him a fellow "idealist" and "dreamer" (terms commonly given to people with the INFP personality on the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)) portends that she'll always be left wondering if they would've been perfect together.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
