With a Spirit Lyrics
You can be
Whatever u want
When you're high
Walk slowly
With a spirit by your side (Oh baby)
Don't fear if u lose your mind
Say how u doin' boy I'm feelin' fine
when somethin' carries me away
hey hey hey hey
Don't think
Just take a ride
Don't believe
That jesus lied
To keep us all so satisfied
With a sale
U should know baby
Don't feel
The thorny nights
Never ask
For holy rites
Don't ya think
That god has died
This time
And don't stop
Takin' these drugs cuz' they
Got u flyin' forgettin' yesterday
Maybe it's crazy but keep gettin' stoned while u can
Baby in the lord's hands
Don't say
U know what's right
Don't take
Those alibis
Don't hate
The other side
When they're right
Sure they are baby
Don't wave
Your flag up high
Don't praise
Your concubines
Did u just
Fall for lies
This time
Whatever u want
When you're high
Walk slowly
With a spirit by your side (Oh baby)
Don't fear if u lose your mind
Say how u doin' boy I'm feelin' fine
when somethin' carries me away
hey hey hey hey
Just take a ride
Don't believe
That jesus lied
To keep us all so satisfied
With a sale
U should know baby

drugs are placeebic.... things that suggest your mind in euphoric expereinces (feeling fine) as if your in heavenly bliss, or whatever it is, you believe your version of heaven and happiness to be, with a spirit, or drug or otherwise. but the mistake here is to say for sure, that things are a lie. this is just one of those things we as a people will never agree on... 6 or 9... but in the same right, they preach on respect in your views of faith and if you believe or not.\n\nDon\'t take\nThose alibis\nDon\'t hate\nThe other side\nWhen they\'re right\nSure they are baby\n\nDon\'t wave\nYour flag up high\nDon\'t praise\nYour concubines\nDid u just\nFall for lies\nThis time
this is a hard one to tell. It clearly speaks of the bible but also about drugs...and that last verse is just a switch up. Maybe someone else has more insite?
all i know is that I heard this song first time on a video of parkore, and randomly another one of there songs beat of the moment, was also on parkore. It inspired me enough to try.
the main goal is to create reasonably entertaining music, as the conceptual stuff only interests a minority anyway -- i.e. people who know how to read and aren't subscribed to random tales handed down from Bronze-age pastoralists. comment from the creator of the music. it's not christian, nor is he a dumb tool who makes songs about drugs because they're popular.

to me, this song is about realizing that finding the Truth means to stop critically analyzing life. Deep down we all know what is really true.
o and we should stop being bigots
In Marc Cohn's "Walking in Memphis", when Muriel the piano player asks the narrator if he's " a Christian child", he replies with, "m'am I am tonight." The deep intensity of playing with her figuratively overpowered his rational faculties. Similarly, in "With a Spirit", the narrator tells the listener to "[not] think that God has died, this time." In our time, the prominence of religious belief has faded due to rational thought. God can be said to have died from within our collective conscious. Although atheism, liberating in the sense that it expresses what is likely to be the truth, by the same token brings with it a wave of cynicism. If the traditional belief that promises an after life with a benevolent being is false, what happens to us when we die? The implications are foreboding. This song encourages the listener to abandon their cynicism and just indulge in the basest of life's pleasures. Don't stop smoking those drugs, because they've got you feeling so high!
got a ? and will not judge any replies. has anyone ever listened to his words and thought that he is talking from his p.o.v. of the lose of a love one and lost hope. till he finds pharmaceutical help "Dr." and his lord ,god, whatever he call it. Thinking that everything has been taken from him. Till he found himself? I can say that is how I have felt for a while...the lose of my wife due to the flu a common flu and she was taken...this is just my thoughts on this song. love the group and their songs. I'm feelin' fine...when something carries me away...
@GRENDLE @GRENDLE I'm so sorry about your wife and I pray you find Who you're looking for. Be strong my man, God's with you always. Music is the strongest form of human expression and I am glad to hear you find comfort in it just like me :)

I just listened to this tune non stop, driving from Cbus, Ohio to DC. Here I am home listening to it on my Polks from 1989. Nonstop. Good Lord. Can't put this song away...
At 6:20 ish...change striped down into the neon asphalt leaves gone passing being passed. Rewind. Again. Play.
No. 6:37
Definitely a Christian. Surrender. Surrender to addiction. There's too much of Him in it.
