I think it's about a breakup and going out and seeing that person and it hurts to see them having a good time without you and you're pretending to have a good time without them too but it hurts so damn much. and you wish it wasn't over and maybe can't see yourself moving on hence "please let me be easy to love" because you lost yourself in the relationship.

yeah, i agree with dreamhotel in the storytelling with the night on the town and seeing the ex. It's supported by the line "saw me go blind, step out of line, can't help myself" a reference to the girl getting drunk and doing something innapropraite. blind being drunk. "when you get your groove on, i go blind". she can't help but over drink seeing her ex having such a good time.
My interpretation of this song is that its about an alcoholic who gave up something to continue drinking. Either a husband/wife, child or both.
