Dynamite Shovel Lyrics

Rest stop in Tennessee
I found where the ignorant fucks of the world meet
For donuts and coffee
Spewing rhetoric I thought was reserved for
Westboro Baptist and lunatics like that
So you can hide behind the bible
We still know you're fucked
Inbreeding can claim this one
So chalk it up
These small town minds stay small
The world evolves so stay in your shithole
We're moving on
Someone should burn this place to the ground
I'll see you motherfuckers in hell

“Fuck anyone who thinks they can use their religion as an excuse for racism or sexism or homophobia. I don’t believe in God. If you do, that’s your deal. But regardless, it doesn’t give you the right to be a shitty person.” - Soupy

Song Meaning

It's ironic that while they decry ignorance and small-mindedness, they are being very ignorant and small-minded.

Not necessarily. The Band isn't attacking Christians, they're aiming at Christians who use the bible as an excuse for their hatred, racism, and ignorance.

@bacon06 was really surprised and refreshed that someone else noticed this. incredibly ironic that he is condemning a group of people for believing in something he doesn't, and accusing them for doing exactly that.

Well I like The Wonder Years, but I'm from Nashville. Talking shit about us much...?

Not TN directly. I think it was an experience thing based on where they had a rest stop when they were on tour.

Someone/something must have pissed him off. But the whole point behind the song is he doesn't want to be surrounded by ignorant people.

it was apparently about a rest stop outside of nashville. like if you have ever been outside of that city in any of the country ass rest stops on 40 then you should be well-aware who he is talking about.

You all should go do some research on who the Westboro Baptist is. This will clear everything up for you.

You may know these people

These people hold signs up that say stuff like "god bless 9/11", "god hates fags", or even "god bless dead soldiers".

I know this post is old but this should really help you understand what they're talking about.

Wowwww haha. This song made me laugh. Clearly he's a little bit mad.

The speaker overhears a group of people in Tennessee speaking. Their beliefs are backward compared to the rest of the US; they are most likely homophobic, etc. He goes on to say that they should all die and burn in hell.

OPINION: The lyricist calling ignorance a sin comes off as incredibly arrogant to me. These people were brought up into beliefs that he and most other people don't agree with, so they should burn in hell? The last line "I'll see you motherfuckers in hell" is possibly an admittance of this irony (he is just as guilty as they for condemning others), but it doesn't come off that way to me when I listen to it.
