Cosmonaut Lyrics

Young girl, can you tell me what you're looking for?

Down this, never-ending highway

Wipe your, your tears away

Listen, hear what I say

Sitting here with nothing on my mind

Could you possibly afford the time?

Are we looking for the only cosmonaut?

The only cosmonaut

Young girl, can you tell me where do you go?

Delirious, only way that you know

Sitting here with nothing on my mind

Could you possibly afford the time?

Are we looking for the only cosmonaut?

The only cosmonaut

The only cosmonaut

The only cosmonaut

We traveled far off into space

No longer part of any race

All worldly pleasures left behind

No longer part of our own kind

The only cosmonaut

The only cosmonaut

The only cosmonaut

The only cosmonaut

To me it seems to be about people who are in search of answers, philisophically, psychotropically, or even just meditatively, and their eventual enlightment/transcendence from human form.

or it could be as simple as being about tripping, although i like to think there's as much depth as i interpret when i listen to songs like this.

"We traveled far off into space, <-----------> within you without you, space is in the mind, and beyond us as well, so it would then mean to travel deep within yourself, and search the world around, too. no longer part of any race; <--------> evolve past differentiating between ethnicitys, other belief systems/ways of life. just be, and be human. All worldly pleasures left behind, <------> one of the answers i found was to leave behind glutony and materialism. i've noticed when i'm not constantly yearning for things i don't need i'm a lot less unsatisfied all the time, ya dig? and i'm able to focus on things i should be bothering myself with. pretty much this applies to any trivial desire. no longer part of our own kind." <------> energy/matter can't be created or destroyed, so when we "die", our human body (a vessal)decomposes in one way or another (recycling), and where does the energy (soul, spirit, other?) go? transcendence!

ahh, the universe, what a beautiful space to try to wrap ones mind around. but nobody's mind wraps that far without being blown.

That! is what Wolfmother is all about! Enlightenment!

I completely agree. The song must be about two people's need to understand life and the world and their journey and their discovery of what they were searching for!

!! :)

Could be a comparison between awkward silence between two people and the never ending silence of space. Asking her if she looking for someone else to be with since she seems to be bored with him plus he doesn't want to waste his or her time being with each other if there is nothing to grow a relationship on.

Nah I dont think its about that. To me it sounds like the song is about people being in their purest forms.

"No longer part of any race". Forget about race, ethnicity. "All worldly pleasures left behind". Forget about luxury items, and objects that don't matter. "No longer part of our own kind". Forget about trivial things that don't matter.

Just be.
