This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines:
"Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet"
So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other:
"I had all and then most of you"
Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart
"Some and now none of you"
Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship.
This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"
Badda-da-dah, badda-da-bah-bah
Comin' out your mouth with your blah, blah, blah
Zip your lips like a padlock
And meet me in the back with the Jack at the jukebox
I don't really care where you live at
Just turn around, boy, let me hit that
Don't be a little bitch with your chit chat
Just show me where your dick's at
Music's up (up)
Listen hot stuff (stuff)
I'm in love (love)
With this song
So just hush (hush)
Baby, shut up (up)
Heard enough
Stop ta-ta-talkin' that
Blah, blah, blah
Think you'll be gettin' this?
Nah, nah, nah
Not in the back of my
Car-ar-ar
If you keep talkin' that
Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah
Boy, come and get my rocks off
Come put a little love in my glovebox (yeah)
Wanna dance with no pants on? (Holla)
Meet me in the back with the Jack at the jukebox
So cut to the chase, kid
'Cause I know you don't care what my middle name is
I wanna be naked and you're wasted
Music's up (up)
Listen hot stuff (stuff)
I'm in love (love)
With this song
So just hush (hush)
Baby, shut up (up)
Heard enough
Stop ta-ta-talkin' that
Blah, blah, blah
Think you'll be gettin' this?
Nah, nah, nah
Not in the back of my
Car-ar-ar
If you keep talkin' that
Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah
You be delayin' you always sayin' some shit
You say I'm playin', I'm never layin' the dick
Sayin' blah, blah, blah, 'cause I don't care who you are
In this bar it only matters who I is
Stop ta-ta-talkin' that
Blah, blah, blah
Think you'll be gettin' this?
Nah, nah, nah
Not in the back of my
Car-ar-ar
If you keep talkin' that
Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah
Blah, blah, blah
Think you'll be gettin' this?
Nah, nah, nah
Not in the back of my
Car-ar-ar
If you keep talkin' that
Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah (oh)
Blah, blah, blah
Stop talkin'
Stop ta-ta-talkin' that

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
I'm wondering how anybody can actually refer to this as music? If I could punch ONE person in the face as hard as I possibly could and get away with it, it would be Ke$ha. She looks and sounds like a freaking crack whore. WHAT IS HAPPENING TO MUSIC?
And this coming from the person that is still stuck on the beatles right?<br /> haha. yeah. . . . <br /> (nice) in there time!!<br /> what an idiot.<br /> do me a favor andddd stfu.<br /> get with it bitch its [2010]
The Beatles are a thousand times better than that nasty skank Ke$ha will ever be. The only idiot is you. Well, you and anybody else who thinks Ke$ha even has the smallest bit of musical talent. So you do the planet a favor and "STFU". Just because it's 2010 doesn't mean the music is good. If this is the direction music is going in, then I'd rather be stuck in the 60s.
Yeah, music today is definitely better than the beatles. This music doesn't have to be good, and not all of it today is good, but its playful and fun and thats what people like now. And Kesha has definitely made it fun, and I love it! :D
You've probably only heard a couple songs by The Beatles.<br /> <br /> I do agree to an extent. Music can be playful and fun. Ke$ha just doesn't have any musical talent. She sounds awful. And music can be playful and fun without having disgusting lyrics such as:<br /> <br /> "Don't be a little bitch with your chit chat<br /> Just show me where your dick's at"<br /> <br /> That's disgusting, and any talentless hack could come up with such garbage. At least The Beatles actually put thought into what they were writing. So yeah... The Beatles are DEFINITELY better than most of today's music.
I love classic rock, it takes WAY more talent than the satanic crap that ke$ha plays ( and yes, the symbology she uses is satanic.) classic rock FTW!
I love the beatles, they paved the way for music. But I don't hate kesha. I think she's smarter than people think. Agreed, the lyrics to her songs arent as innovative as the beatles, but I respect her for being ballsy enough to say what she wants. Let her live! If you don't like it, use that energy to listen to what you do like instead of focusing on what you hate. Imjustsaying.
jenalisa and LovesBeatles, you are both wrong. <br /> <br /> LovesBeatles, calm down. Kesha makes dance music for the radio. She knows what she is, and isn't trying to tout it as art like other contemporary artists.(coughladygaga) If you're looking for lyrical value in the majority of "pop" music today, you're going to be disappointed. That being said, I think Kesha is good at what she does and actually has some witty lyrics. I think you are way too bitter and involved. Also, regardless of how well you can write, your argument loses power when you resort to ad hominem attacks. <br /> <br /> jenalisa, downing music because it's old is simply ignorant. music does not lose value as it ages, if anything, it often gains more because of its ability to still be relevant. you have some growing up to do.<br /> <br />
God! just chill! music is music just give it a chance and listen 2 the beat its basically all the same!
