(New surroundings)
My dreams will never come true
And if they ever ever do
There's never you
I want to implode
I want it to end
And all those old feelings are coming back again

(New surroundings)

My dreams are haunting my soul
And when I'm driving down the road
I'm not in control
I want to let go
I want to shake hands
With the person that's
Responsible for this master plan

I know I will
I know I can

(New surroundings)
(this is not in your mind)

My dreams will never come true
And if they ever ever do
It's never you

No meanings yet? I'll try to take a dive... I think its about how your dreams can be frustrating because you feel as if you don't have control over them sometimes. But thinks like lucid dreaming can help discover them a little more. When the girl sings "new surroundings" I think its as if to say that by just being curious of who is in charge and part of the "master plan" is opening up yourself to new surroundings. I don't know about you guys but I feel like Phantogram has spiritual meanings behind a lot of their songs as well.

    My Interpretation

There's something about the words to this song that resonate to my core. I suffer from anxiety and suicidal tendencies. Through all these years there are certain subjects that can instantly bring panic, and it's not typically things you can talk about. I feel like this song is about dreaming and wanting someone you can't have almost no matter what, and even fulfilling your own goals you still can't have it.

"My dreams are haunting my soul". You feel like a shell, because your dreams and nightmares happen, but stay with you all day and cloud your every thought. The second verse referring to wanting to kill yourself to end your suffering and heartache. "I want to let go, I want to shake hands with the person that's responsible for this master plan" to go meet your maker.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

This is about bronies. They communicate by stomping.

Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
