Who Knows Who Cares Lyrics
i've been going down
down into the river baby
listen to the sound
it's something only god knows
you figure it out, i can't stay
water's in the clouds
is my life about to change?
who knows, who cares
so we took a van down to colorado
where we ran into the dead
i took you by the hand
know that even with your doubts, it's ok
take into account that it's not about to change
who knows, who cares
you could let it down
jump into the river baby
easy as it sounds
it's never quite as easily done
the current has us now, it's ok
take into account that it's all about to change
who knows, who cares
no one's been there
but i don't care
i know all have been there
i don't care
i know
down into the river baby
listen to the sound
it's something only god knows
you figure it out, i can't stay
water's in the clouds
is my life about to change?
who knows, who cares
where we ran into the dead
i took you by the hand
know that even with your doubts, it's ok
take into account that it's not about to change
who knows, who cares
jump into the river baby
easy as it sounds
it's never quite as easily done
the current has us now, it's ok
take into account that it's all about to change
who knows, who cares
but i don't care
i know all have been there
i don't care
i know

it's about zombies. the sound is a zombie stampede. he can't stay cuz they're coming. and the run into the river cuz zombies can't swim. everything's about to change cuz it's an outbreak. takes a bow
Props.

I just came across this song a few days ago and I absolutely adore it. To Me I feel like the song is simply saying, "Just go with the flow". In the first verse it talks about going into the river, I kind of get the hint of Siddhartha and the river of life. You can't stop the river and you can't stop life, so just go with it. The Second and Third verse transitioning to his significant other having worry or doubts about their relationship and him saying just jump in the river baby, its ok meaning just go with it and see what happens.
This song is so pretty--the vocals and strings and all! Perhaps about not being afraid of what's in front of you and what that could mean in the near future. In the first stanza, he seems like he is confused about life in general. But then in the second stanza he is confident in this person and wants to share his life (at the moment) with this person. He wants the other person to not have doubts and to reveal his/her self with no reservations ("..even with your doubts..." "you could let it down"). He won't criticize. Because he knows it's hard ("easy as it sounds//it's never as quite easily done"), so he understands. In the third stanza he says how they've invested in each other ("the current has us now") and people can transform each other so life is different in some way now--it is all about to change. It's interesting how there's clashing messages of not caring/worrying but then you can find how much you do care about people when you share yourself with another. But it's true, you just can't take life too seriously...or song song analyses :D
i think this song is about a couple having sex for the first time. and as shes apprehensive about it because sex can make things different "even with your doubts its ok" but he tells her "its not about to change"
"you could let it down jump into the river baby easy as it sounds it's never quite as easily done the current has us now, it's ok"
take into account that it's all about to change
this is like the pinnacle of music. now i may be writing this semi-drunk, but this song is the complete package. the whimsical-yet-musing melody, the beautifully flowing lyrics, the layered instruments, the slow build, the rumbling climax, his voice... good heavens. i really don't think it gets any better than this. music has peaked, folks.
i saw them live when they played loufest in st louis this year. i loved the rest of their show, but when they launched into this, i was floored. it's the closest to spirituality i guess i'll ever come. it was four or five minutes of pure nirvana. well done, local natives.
My favorite off Gorilla Manor. Simply put, it is beautiful.
The amazing this about this song is that the first time I really heard it was while I was on a rd trip to Colorado. Me and my friend had just saw Farther (which is Grateful Dead just w/o Jerry) the night before at Red Rocks... we hadn't planned on that we just happened to find out about the show on our way to CO. I just wanted to see the Rockies - it was my first time that far west. This song will always hold an amazingly special place in my heart bc of that trip... it was perfect.

To me this song is about letting your walls down. When someone new comes into your life they can always make a huge impact.
You get to know more about the person and your life begins to change because they are not only opening up to you, but you are opening up to them as well. It's not a process, you just go along with it, such as a river's current.
You can tell yourself to let yourself open up to someone but it's hard to actually get yourself to do it..
In the beginning of the song, I think he is telling about the relationship with that person ending "you figure it out, I can't stay" <--he can't let himself open up
But throughout the rest of the song I think it is about during their relationship and how he is trying to get the other person to open up, but in the end it is himself that really couldn't
That's just how I feel about it though.
I agree with "heyjohnnyhaiii". I think it's about self discovery, and trying to get another person to do so too.
