Search and Destroy Lyrics
Grab your gun
Time to go to hell
I'm no hero
Guilty as charged
Search and destroy
Found my faith
Living in sin
I'm no Jesus
But neither are you, my friend
I'm a whore
Above the broken dreams
The simple answer is never what it seems
A million little pieces
We've broken into
A million little pieces
Are stolen from you
Search and destroy (x4)
Sold my soul
To heaven and to hell
Sick as my secrets
But never gonna tell
I do believe
The burden of my dreams
Because your faith is a blessing
I believe (x6)
Search and destroy (x5)
Let go
Let go
Let me go
Let me go
Let go
Let go
Let me go
(Search and destroy)
A million little pieces (x7)
Stolen from you
Woah, oh oh, woah
Woah, oh oh, woah
Woah, oh oh, woah
Woah, oh oh, woah
Search and destroy (x4)
A million little pieces
A million little pieces the start
Time to go to hell
I'm no hero
Guilty as charged
Search and destroy
Living in sin
I'm no Jesus
But neither are you, my friend
Above the broken dreams
The simple answer is never what it seems
We've broken into
A million little pieces
Are stolen from you
To heaven and to hell
Sick as my secrets

Let go
Let me go
Let me go
Let go
Let me go
Woah, oh oh, woah
Woah, oh oh, woah
Woah, oh oh, woah

"Search and Destroy" is a military tactic of quickly searching out the enemy, destroying them and withdrawing quickly after this is accomplished. I think this is about searching and destroying one's inner daemons and short comings.

I've been listening to this song a lot and really like it, and just curious what is your interpretation of that "a million little pieces, I stole it from you." He says this twice and the second time emphasizes it so what do you think that means? It just kinda stood out to me.

Thanks. I'm not too sure what he's referring to. When I hear "a million little pieces" it reminds me of the fake memoir by James Frey. I haven't read the book but its about batteling drug addiction and his life falling into a million little pieces and overcoming this. So the song and book seem to have similar themes but I'm really not sure if Jared would write a song about that book. Perhaps its saying that these inner demons/problems stole life from him? He broke into a million little pieces and he's saying "let go" to whatever caused his life...

I immediately thought of that book to right when I first heard him sing that line. My friend read that book a couple years ago and so I knew it was about drugs and going into rehab...but I didn't really think of this book as influencing the song. But I could be wrong! Though looking back on the line having these problems take life from him (or whoever) doesn't make sense b/c he/she says "I stole it from you" rather than "They stole it from me" or something...unless he's talking from the demons point of view and in that case would make sense.
Bosna? Ozbiljno? What are the odds? Oh, sorry, did you even understand me? Nevermind, the one person whose profile I decide to look at ends up being from around me. I like your interpretations of these songs.

Whatever, anyway, such a great album and a great song, although my favorite one is "This Is War". If I hadn't heard it on Dragon Age, I wouldn't even notice this amazing album.

Well since 30 had their own youtube channel now and they posted all the lyrics up I looked at this one and "stole it from you," is actually "I've stolen from you." Which makes a little more sense. He's saying he took something away from someone else, but I'm still a little iffy on it.
I Know That This Sounds Kind Of Weird, But I Came To Me As I Read The Lyrics.

Grab your gun Time to go to hell I'm no hero Guilty as charged Search and destroy
Found my faith Living in sin I'm no jesus But niether are you, my friend
I'm a whore Above the broken dreams The simple answer Is never what it seems...
That was the only part that I had a problem with. The rest is repetition.
i tried editing it and making the changes you suggested (which are right) as well as a few more. hope it works!

"A million little pieces we've broken into/ A million little pieces I've stolen from you"
I think he's saying that we all are made-up of little pieces and those pieces are "stolen" by other people to make us into the people we are. We all contribute to they way other poeple act and what they believe.
I always thought this song was about having the ability to have faith in something or someone despite one's impurities and sins. There's no black or white, we're broken into a million little pieces, not all bad but not all good either. Everyone's got there dark secrets they aren't willing to tell anyone, but we also have the things in our lives that we live for and shout out for the world to hear. No matter how far in to something we get, we can always turn around, because that faith is still there and its unshakeable.
@rousey I agree with your opinion. and that is very meaningful.

"A million little pieces we've broken into A million little pieces, I stole it from you"
seems to me that hes talking about we are no longer united, us as people, we have broken into a million little pieces and are not all one anymore. now i have no idea what he means when he says he stole it from you or how what i said ties into the rest of the song, but i thought id share my answer to that small riddle
Found my faith living in sin I'm no Jesus, neither are you, my friend I'm a whore, I'm perfect, broken dreams A simple answer is never what it seems
I feel like he is talking about learning from his mistakes rather than worrying about being imperfect. No one can judge another.
HELLO EVERYONE THIS HAS ILLUMINATI WRITTEN ALL OVER IT.
for the record, it's "found my faith living in SIN" which i think means you don't have to be perfect to find your faith. if that makes sense. and it's "a million little pieces ARE STOLEN from you" which i think is talking about the pieces of ourselves that are stolen from us by media and various forms of brainwashing every day. it could also be referring to the pieces stolen from us through abuse or through being bullied, working an awful job, etc. either way, this song is trying to open your eyes and give you hope. i think it's beautiful and empowering.
